After barely escaping a victory over the Bengals, the Pittsburgh Steelers come into Mile High Stadium with one goal in mind: to beat the Denver Broncos. All of the odds will be against them in this game. Ben Roethlisberger has a sore shoulder. Antonio Brown may not play. Le’veon Bell is out for the year, and Deangelo Williams may not play as well due to his ankle injury. Regardless, the Steelers are still the Steelers. They find a way to get things done and to win games. They pulled a miracle out last week against the Bengals. Let’s take a look at a few reasons to bet on the Steelers to win Super Bowl 50.

The Reasoning Behind Betting on the Pittsburgh Steelers

On only the 20th of December, when the Steelers went up against the Broncos, they were favored by 7 points. Now, three weeks later, in a span where the Steelers have not lost a game, they’re suddenly 6.5 point underdogs? This can be hard to comprehend as nothing major has happened, aside from home field being transferred to the Broncos. Pittsburgh is one of the deadliest teams in the NFL, and just as long as their key players come through and are able to play, they are a top championship contender and have a realistic shot to beat the Broncos.

Ben Roethlisberger has been an effective weapon of Pittsburgh's.
Big Ben will hopefully be able to resume play.

To win the Super Bowl the Steelers would have to beat the Broncos at home, and then enter a matchup with either Kansas City or New England on the road. After that win they’d head to the Super Bowl to face either the Panthers, Cardinals, Seahawks, or Packers (currently the odds point to it being the Cardinals or Seahawks). This is a tough stretch to go through, as the Steelers would have to win 3 games in a row on the road (they’ve already won once), and then win the Super Bowl against a strong NFC team. If any team can do it though, it’s this Steelers team.

One great reason to bet on the Steelers is unlike many teams in the playoffs, as the season goes on they’re only going to get stronger. Hypothetically say they beat the Broncos – it’s likely that their injured players will feel slightly better after another week to heal their minor injuries. After two weeks of rest for the Super Bowl, they’d finally be at full strength, and would unleash their full potential in the Super Bowl. At +800 odds it’s a shot in the dark, but if you’re looking for a dark horse team to bet on, the Steelers are just about your best bet. Roethlesberger and Tomlin have the experience – all they need is a little bit of luck and they’ll have no problem against the struggling AFC.
