The surprises continue to hit in the NFL playoffs, with a #6 seed still alive as we head into the Conference Championship round in the postseason. We are now down to 4 teams, which may not be the lineup that we all expected at this stage of the season. The bookies were quick off the mark as soon as the Divisional Round came to a close, with a definite favorite emerging from the pack.
Given how crazy this playoff has been, though, we should perhaps take the odds with a pinch of salt. Let’s look at how each of the remaining 4 teams got here and what their odds to win the Super Bowl are right now.
Updated Super Bowl LIV Odds – January 13th Edition
Kansas City Chiefs
- Super Bowl LIV Odds: +130
The Kansas City Chiefs made it straight into the Divisional Round by landing one of the top two seeds in the AFC. For a moment, it looked as though their time in the playoffs might be short, as they went down 24-0 early to the Houston Texans.
By the time we reached half-time in that game, the Chiefs had stormed back to take a 28-24 lead, the only time in playoff history that a team had overturned a 24-point deficit in the first half. They ended up winning in blowout fashion, taking down the Texans 51-31. The bookies now have the Chiefs in as the favorite to win the Super Bowl, especially since their next game will be a home outing against the #6 seed.
San Francisco 49ers
- Super Bowl LIV Odds: +155
We have seen a number of favorites bite the bullet already through the opening two rounds of the postseason, but that trend did not continue in San Francisco, as the 49ers looked to be in complete control from start to finish in their win against the Minnesota Vikings in the NFC Divisional Round.
While it’s never easy to beat the same team twice in a single season, it should be noted that the 49ers pretty easily handled the Green Bay Packers when they met in the regular season. That’s just one of the reasons why they are the favorites this coming weekend.
Green Bay Packers
- Super Bowl LIV Odds: +600
For a while, it looked as though it was going to be smooth sailing for the Green Bay Packers in the NFC Divisional Round, but they ended up holding on a little at the end, eventually beating the Seattle Seahawks 28-23.
The Packers made the most of their home field advantage, but that is gone now, as they will be on the road to face the San Francisco 49ers, a team that already beat them this season, next Sunday. The Packers have rarely looked really convincing this season, but you cannot argue with their overall results.
Tennessee Titans
- Super Bowl LIV Odds: +700
If you have been wagering on the Tennessee Titans this postseason, you should be sitting on a tidy little profit. Few of us expected them to go into Foxboro and beat the Patriots in the Wild Card game, but they did that. They the followed that up with a win on the road against the #1 seeded Baltimore Ravens.
The Titans have played great defense and have been getting heroic work from Derrick Henry at running back. Can they join the Steelers and Packers as the only #6 seeds to win the Super Bowl?
