2017 can probably best be described as a turning point for the Tennessee Titans. Not only did they make it into the playoffs, they actually won a game before running into the New England Patriots. It is now clear that they have their franchise QB in Marcus Mariota, and they have made moves that will ensure he is protected and that he has some good talent to throw to.
There is a new coaching staff in town, with all signs pointing to the possibility that Mariota is going to be given a heavier throwing load. Week 4 at Philadelphia Eagles
Perhaps the best way to measure any team is to see how well they perform on the road against the defending champions. The Titans have a couple of big division games before this one, but you can bet that this is the game that they will be looking at as the real test of where they stand. It’s never easy to go head to head with the champs, especially when you need to do so in a building that is awfully tough to play in. This is a match-up that is intriguing for a variety of different reasons, the most obvious of which is that it is a rematch of the Divisional Playoff game from last year, which the Patriots won going away. Perhaps more importantly, though, it will be the first time that Mike Vrabel faces the team where he made his name as a player, only this time he will be in as the head coach of the Titans. While the Colts will have Andrew Luck back in the fold, the AFC South looks as though it is once again going to be a 3-way race. The Jaguars had an outstanding season in 2017, coming ever so close to landing in the Super Bowl, and they will be looking to go one better this time around.
