2017 can probably best be described as a turning point for the Tennessee Titans. Not only did they make it into the playoffs, they actually won a game before running into the New England Patriots. It is now clear that they have their franchise QB in Marcus Mariota, and they have made moves that will ensure he is protected and that he has some good talent to throw to.
There is a new coaching staff in town, with all signs pointing to the possibility that Mariota is going to be given a heavier throwing load. This is a season that looks very promising for Tennessee, but they have some big challenges ahead of them. Let’s take a closer look at a few of the toughest games on their 2018 schedule.

Week 4 at Philadelphia Eagles
Perhaps the best way to measure any team is to see how well they perform on the road against the defending champions. The Titans have a couple of big division games before this one, but you can bet that this is the game that they will be looking at as the real test of where they stand.
It’s never easy to go head to head with the champs, especially when you need to do so in a building that is awfully tough to play in. By the end of this game, we should have a very clear idea if the Titans are for real or if they are set to take a backward step.
Week 10 vs New England Patriots
This is a match-up that is intriguing for a variety of different reasons, the most obvious of which is that it is a rematch of the Divisional Playoff game from last year, which the Patriots won going away.
Perhaps more importantly, though, it will be the first time that Mike Vrabel faces the team where he made his name as a player, only this time he will be in as the head coach of the Titans. There is a feeling that the Patriots are a crumbling empire, and it would certainly be fun to see a former player play a role in that demise.
Week 12 at Houston Texans
The Titans head into Week 12 with a spot in prime time against the team that may well be their main competition in the division. The Texans promising season last year turned to dust with injuries to J.J. Watt and rookie QB sensation DeShaun Watson.
We only got to see a very small sample of the Texans new QB, but what we saw proved that he certainly appears to be the real deal. This should be a fun one to watch, with two of the best young arms in the league going head to head in an offensive duel.
Week 14 vs Jacksonville Jaguars
While the Colts will have Andrew Luck back in the fold, the AFC South looks as though it is once again going to be a 3-way race. The Jaguars had an outstanding season in 2017, coming ever so close to landing in the Super Bowl, and they will be looking to go one better this time around.
This game could well go a long way towards deciding the eventual division winner, and it will feature a battle between a great offense and an outstanding defense.
