Tennessee at Pittsburgh TNF Week 11 Odds & NFL Betting Pick

Written by on November 14, 2017

Excellent Thursday night matchup this week that could be a playoff preview as the first-place team in the AFC North, Pittsburgh, hosts the co-leader of the AFC South in the Tennessee Titans. It’s the first meeting between the two in three years. Both have won four straight games. It’s going to be a tight game, but the question is, who’s the NFL betting pick for Thurday night. The Week 11 odds favor the Steelers to win, but not by a touchdown.

NFL Week 11 Picks & Betting Predictions

Last Meeting

In Week 11 of the 2014 season on a Monday night, Pittsburgh won at Tennessee 27-24. Ben Roethlisberger threw a 12-yard touchdown pass to Antonio Brown with 9:01 left. LeVeon Bell ran for 204 yards and a touchdown. With Bell running through and over the Titans, the Steelers took the pressure off Roethlisberger by holding the ball for 39 minutes, 49 seconds with a 386-312 edge in total offense. Tennessee led 24-13 entering the fourth. Their QB back then was the forgettable Zach Mettenberger. I think he’s working at a McDonald’s somewhere these days.

Why Bet On Tennessee?

The Titans currently hold a head-to-head tiebreaker for the AFC South lead over Jacksonville and have a 77 percent postseason chance. Tennessee has played AFC North opponents like Pittsburgh in each of its past three games and won them each by four points or fewer. It was 24-20 at home vs. Cincinnati on Sunday. Marcus Mariota tossed a 7-yard touchdown pass to DeMarco Murray with 36 seconds left. Murray also rushed for two scores. He was relatively ineffective most of the game, averaging only three yards-per-carry and looking sluggish on the majority of his runs. His first two touchdowns came from a combined three yards away. Mariota finished the day 25-of-44 for 264 yards, with one touchdown and one interception. He also added 51 rushing yards. He went 5-of-8 for 53 yards and a huge 5-yard rush for a first down on that final drive. Mariota hurt his left shoulder while being tackled on that run, but refused to exit the game. Titans kicker Ryan Succop’s NFL record streak of successful field goals inside 50 yards finally ended at 56 after his first attempt. He missed wide right on a 48-yarder midway through the second quarter. Succop came into the game having easily topped the previous NFL mark of 46 consecutive field goals inside the 50 set by Matt Bryant of Atlanta between 2013 and 2015. Now the Titans (6-3) have their longest winning streak since winning five straight in 2009, and they haven’t won six games this early since 2008.

Why Bet On Pittsburgh?

The Steelers did just enough against the mostly punchless Indianapolis Colts, putting together a late fourth-quarter drive to complete a comeback victory, 20-17 on Sunday. Roethlisberger’s 32-yard completion to Brown with 35 seconds set up a 33-yard field goal from Chris Boswell as time expired. Pittsburgh needed two second-half TD passes from Roethlisberger to fight its way out of a 17-3 third-quarter deficit. Roethlisberger was 19 of 31 for 236 yards with one interception. Bell had 26 carries for 80 yards and Brown, the league’s leading receiver, caught three passes for 47 yards. Roethlisberger was sacked for the first time in three games, and he was hit three times. It was Bell’s second straight high-volume, low-production day on the ground, as he now has 51 carries for 156 yards (3.05 YPC) over his past two games. Are the Steelers a safe bet in Week 11? Pittsburgh lost cornerback Joe Haden to injury in the win as he broke his fibula. He might get back in 5-6 weeks as he won’t need surgery. Haden, who was signed by the Steelers in August after he was released by the Cleveland Browns, has started all nine games this season. Although still not the player he was in his prime, Haden has been enjoying something of a bounce-back season with the Steelers, who must now move forward with Artie Burns, Mike Hilton and William Gay as their top three corners. Safety Mike Mitchell and tight end Vance McDonald both have a chance to play Thursday, Coach Tomlin said. Both players left Sunday’s game with ankle injuries, but only McDonald returned. Mitchell suffered an Achilles’ injury in Week 8 and was limited in practice Tuesday and Wednesday last week. The Steelers (7-2) sit atop the AFC North by three full games, and that Week 15 matchup with the Patriots at Heinz Field is looming larger by the week in terms of final playoff seeding.
