Betting 2024 NFL Season

It’s time to start looking ahead to Week 5 of the NFL season, and there will be a number of big games taking place.

This will be the first weekend of London games, but there will also be a fun slate of games in the United States.

There are a number of ways to bet on NFL games, and looking at the over/under lines is always an option.

Here are five of the top over/under picks to make when looking at the Week 5 action.

Writer’s NFL Over/Under Picks for the Fifth Week of the Season

Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Atlanta Falcons: Over 43.5

Thursday, October 3th, 2024

Week 5 of the NFL season will begin on Thursday Night Football with a huge matchup in the NFC South Division.

It will be the Tampa Bay Buccaneers taking on the Atlanta Falcons, and this is a matchup full of stars.

Even though both of these teams have proven that they can get stops, it’s going to be a game in which both teams take big shots.

Look for this to be one of the highest scoring games of the weekend as the over is going to hit.

NFL OU Pick: Over

Carolina Panthers vs. Chicago Bears: Under 41.5

Sunday, October 6th, 2024

The Chicago Bears are a perfect 2-0 at home, and they are looking to make that 3-0 in Week 5.

Chicago will be hosting the Carolina Panthers, and these two teams have a ton of recent history when it comes to trades.

Carolina has made a change at the quarterback position, but they are still a team with a ton of massive holes.

Chicago is one of the best defensive teams in the league, and that unit is going to keep the total to under 41.5.

NFL OU Pick: Under

Indianapolis Colts vs. Jacksonville Jaguars: Over 45.5

Sunday, October 6th, 2024

The Indianapolis Colts and Jacksonville Jaguars appear to be heading for rough seasons, and they will meet up on Sunday in Week 5.

This is a team that simply has a lot to prove in Week 5, and they will be taking some deep shots down the field.

This is not going to be a game in which there will be great football played, but there will be some points.

Take the over in this game as this will be a fun game to watch on Sunday in the AFC South.

NFL OU Pick: Over

Buffalo Bills vs. Houston Texans: Under 46.5

Sunday, October 6th, 2024

The Buffalo Bills and Houston Texans are meeting up in what could be an AFC Championship Game preview in Week 5.

These are two of the best teams in the league, and many would expect that this will be a shootout.

While it could turn out that way, you should actually expect that the defenses will show up in this matchup.

Each team will simply be trying to get to 24 points to win, and betting the under will be the way to go.

NFL OU Pick: Under

Green Bay Packers vs. Los Angeles Rams: Over 46.5

Sunday, October 6th, 2024

The Green Bay Packers and Los Angeles Rams are both dealing with a ton of injuries, and they have also struggled to get stops this season.

These are teams with offensive-minded head coaches that will both be looking to take advantage of their opponent.

The over/under line for this game is set at just 46.5 total points, and that feels way too low for a matchup of this caliber.

It’s going to take 28 points to win this game, and that will push the point total to more than 46.5 in this one.

NFL OU Pick: Over

2023-24 NFL | 104th season of the National Football League
NFL Week 5: October 4th – October 10th, 2023

Chicago Bears at Washington Commanders | Thursday Night Football

O/U Total: 44.5
Thursday, October 5th, 2023 at 8:15 p.m. | PRIME VIDEO
Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, London

These two teams are not great, but they are going to score points. The Bears have allowed the second most points in all of the National Football League, with 137.

Chicago is one of just two winless teams in the league. The offense can put up points but is averaging just 18.75 points per game due to a couple of poor games. Justin Fields was cooking in the recent loss to the Broncos, but it was not enough.

Washington was able to move the ball on a tough Philadelphia team, but defense has been their issue as well, allowing 30 points per game. This game has OVER written all over it for the Thursday Night Football game.

Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Buffalo Bills

O/U Total: 48.5
Sunday, October 8th, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. | NFL.net
Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, London

The Buffalo Bills have been cooking. Buffalo has scored 37 points or more in each of their last three games. That came after struggling in the opening loss to the Jets.

Josh Allen and Stefon Diggs have turned into one of the best duos in the league, with four touchdowns in four games. For the Jaguars, they will look to slow them down while in London. It will be a good week in London for Jacksonville following their win over Atlanta there in Week 4.

Look for the Jaguars to keep pace for a while, but when push comes to shove, the Bills keep scoring. This game has the OVER written all over it for early Sunday morning.

NFL Week 5 MNF O/U Pick: OVER 48.5 | Bet Jaguars vs. Bills
MyBookie Betting Lines for the Total

New Orleans Saints at New England Patriots

O/U Total: 40
Sunday, October 8th, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. | CBS
Gillette Stadium, Foxborough, MA

These two teams are struggling to score. Derek Carr and the Saints offense just cannot get things going. They will take on the Patriots that have a quarterback issue. Will it continue to be Mac Jones, who has struggled a bit over time, or will they use Bailey Zappe?

We will find out when these two teams meet up on Sunday, but this seems like a game that will stay UNDER with both teams not reaching 20 points.

NFL Week 5 MNF O/U Pick: UNDER 40 | Bet Saints at Patriots

Philadelphia Eagles at Los Angeles Rams

O/U Total: 46.5
Sunday, October 8th, 2023 at 4:05 p.m. | FOX
SoFi Stadium, Inglewood, CA

The Eagles are one of the top-scoring teams in all of the National Football League. It’s been a tough task to slow down Jalen Hurts. The Eagles have scored 118 points on the season. That’s nearly 30 per game.

The Rams are surprisingly having a good offensive season so far. They struggled at Cincinnati, but other than that, Stafford to Puka has been a good connection.

The Rams have been a pleasant surprise at 2-2. This game is going OVER. The Eagles look to make a road statement while the Rams do their best to keep up.

NFL Week 5 MNF O/U Pick: OVER 46.5 | Bet Eagles at Rams
MyBookie Betting Lines for the Total

Dallas Cowboys at San Francisco 49ers | Sunday Night Football

O/U Total: 45.5
Sunday, October 8th, 2023 at 8:20 p.m. | NBC
Levi’s Stadium, Santa Clara, CA

The game of the week. The game of the season maybe so far. The Dallas Cowboys are 3-1 on the season. While Dallas has been great on defense, they have not faced a team with the weapons of the San Francisco 49ers.

Dak Prescott is going to come into this game angry and want to prove Dallas is a new team this season and ready to compete for an NFC title. This game has OVER written all over it, with Christian McCaffrey and that 49ers offense clicking.

NFL Week 5 MNF O/U Pick: OVER 45.5 | Bet Cowboys at 49ers

NFL 2021 Regular Season Week 5 O/U Betting Picks

Previous Betting News

It is always interesting to take little snapshots of the standings as the NFL season progresses. Sometimes, you will have a team coming out hot and staying that way throughout the season, but more often than not, teams experience some ups and downs along the way. You will have teams who started out strong missing out on the playoffs, as well as a couple who were poor through the opening month of the season, only to get hot and end up winning a division or sneaking into the playoffs. It’s all part of the fun of watching the NFL, but it’s also what makes it so tough to handicap. After all, we saw 4 unbeaten teams lose last week, while also seeing a couple of huge upsets. We are struggling to stay consistent with our picks right now, but we think the hot streak is right around the corner. Maybe Week 5 is when we will get on track, so let’s take a look at our O/U picks for the week of the NFL season so you can keep betting against the NFL odds.

Week 5 O/U Picks for the 2021 Season | NFL Betting

Philadelphia Eagles at Carolina Panthers (OVER 45)

We are all well aware that it’s tough to win in this league without having an elite QB under center. Those guys are in short supply, but there are some young players who look ready to take the step. Jalen Hurts has certainly looked the part in Philadelphia, while Sam Darnold has discovered a new lease on life in Carolina. These two QB’s will square off in Week 5 in what could be a high-scoring game. That is what we tend to get when the Eagles go on the road to Carolina, as 4 of their last 5 away from home at the Panthers have gone OVER. In fact, 5 of the last 7 meetings overall between these two have gone that route. I am willing to ignore their current under trends and take the OVER here.

Cleveland Browns at LA Chargers (OVER 46 ½)

What we have here are two very good offensive teams going head-to-head, yet everything would seem to point to the under being the way to go here. This is especially true when you consider that each of the last 5 Chargers home games have gone under, as have 5 of their last 6 overall. If you look at the Cleveland Browns this season, you see that each of their last 2 games have gone under, so this seems like a very straightforward pick. I don’t see it that way, though, as there is one little hidden trend that has me leaning towards the OVER. That trend is that in the last 6 games where the Browns have faced a team with a winning record, the OVER has hit 5 times. It’s the OVER for me here.

Indianapolis Colts at Baltimore Ravens (UNDER 46)

While I can sometimes go against trends, as I did with the Cleveland game here, there are other times when they are too tough to ignore. That would certainly be the case with the Monday night game, that sees the Indianapolis Colts hit the road to face the Baltimore Ravens. Both teams are 2-2 O/U this season, so nothing to indicate which way to go there, but it is their previous meetings that send you in the direction of the UNDER. Each of the last 8 meetings between these two teams have gone the way of the UNDER, as have 12 of their last 13 meetings. As for the Ravens, 6 of their last 8 overall have gone UNDER the point total.

NFL 2020 Week 5 O/U Picks & Expert Analysis

Previous Betting News

After 4 weeks of the NFL season, we have seen the number of undefeated teams reduced to 6. There are no real surprises to be found in that mix, but you do have to wonder how much longer those teams can continue to stay unbeaten with the injuries and movement of games because of COVID beginning to have an impact. All of that aside, we are seeing a lot of offensive football, with scoring at a level that we have not seen since the 70s. It’s no real surprise then that we have been looking at the OVER quite a bit when making our O/U picks, but like the undefeated teams, you wonder how long this pace can be maintained. Still, we are going to take into account the high level of offense that we have seen when making out O/U picks. Please remember that we will also have Week 5 SU and ATS picks coming your way. Let’s jump right into action so you can set down your bets against their NFL odds.

Week 5 O/U Picks for the 2020 Season | NFL Betting

Cincinnati Bengals at Baltimore Ravens (OVER 51)

It’s not quite time to break out the champagne in Cincinnati just yet, but the Bengals are now on a 2-game unbeaten streak after a tie and a victory in their last 2 games. They do, though, look to have their franchise QB in place, as Joe Burrow has looked fantastic through the opening 4 weeks of his life in the NFL. It is still going to be a big job to build around him, but things are looking better for the Bengals. Those happy times may come to an end this weekend, though, as they will be on the road to face the high-flying Baltimore Ravens. The Bengals have seen the OVER hit in 6 of their last 8 games,  and while it has been the UNDER that has been trending with the Ravens, I think we see this one sneak OVER the point total.

New York Giants at Dallas Cowboys (OVER 54)

There is still a lot of football to be played, but as it stands at the moment, the NFC East is far and away the worst division in football. After the first 4 weeks of the season, the 4 teams in the East are looking at a combined record of 3-12-1. Keep in mind that one of these teams will make it to the postseason, but who will it be. You still feel as though the Dallas Cowboys can come good, but they will need to find a way to bet better on the defensive side of the football. The Cowboys have been in shootout games all season long, and while the Giants offense is maybe not good enough to get sucked into that, I still think we see this one go OVER.

Indianapolis Colts at Cleveland Browns (OVER 47)

Both of these teams will come into this game on 3-game winning streaks, so something has to give this weekend. We are not looking at win and losses with these two, though, as this is all about the point total. After a poor showing in Week 1, the Browns offense is beginning to click, which is why they have seen each of their last 3 games go OVER the point total. The Colts, on the other hand, have been trending towards the UNDER, but that switches when they play conference opponents, with 4 of their last 6 in those matchups going OVER.
