Updated Super Bowl LI Odds (Oct 5th)

Written by on October 5, 2016

What a difference four weeks of football can make MyBookie NFL pigskin players! Just one month into the 2016 NFL regular season, the NFL Futures Odds to win Super Bowl 51 have changed for a handful of teams and quite dramatically for several others. This look at the latest odds to hoist the Vince Lombardi trophy in February will help you make a wise selection or two on this still-available futures odds wager. Okay, let’s get started.

Here’s a Look at the Updated Super Bowl LI Odds (Oct 5th)

The Favorites (Team – Opening Odds – Current Odds)

New England Patriots – 10/1 – 22/5

As much as it pains me to write it…by going 3-1 in Tom Brady’s absence, the Pats have done nothing at all to derail the belief of millions of NFL bettors that think they’ll win it all this season. With Brady back under center, the sky’s the limit for New England.

Carolina Panthers – 10/1 – 22/1

The Panthers were a 10/1 preseason favorite but have looked nothing like one in dropping three of their first four games this season. Cam Newton has taken a pounding this season and that says a lot considering he’s a linebacker-sized signal-caller. The Panthers’ odds have taken a significant it and rightfully so, because right now, at 1-3, they’re in trouble!

Seattle Seahawks – 10/1 – 10/1

After struggling mightily to score the ball over their first two games, the Seahawks have picked it up nicely the last two weeks to move to 3-1 at the time of this writing. Russell Wilson is throwing it well, the rushing attack is picking up where Marshawn Lynch left off and tight end Jimmy Graham is now actually catching passes! Love ‘em or loathe ‘em, the Seahawks have the look of a legitimate Super Bowl contender.

Pittsburgh Steelers – 10/1 – 9/1

Besides their stunning Week 3 loss against Philly, Ben Roethlisberger and the Pittsburgh Steelers have the clear-cut look of a legitimate Super Bowl contender. Now, if only Antonio Brown can stop getting taunting penalties for having ‘sex with the air’ after he scores.

Green Bay Packers – 12/1 – 17/2

The Packers (2-1) will have their work cut out in beating out Minnesota for the NFC North division title, but the fact of the matter is that any time you have a quarterback like Aaron Rodgers, you’re going to have a legitimate shot. Still, right now, I’m a bit worried the Packers aren’t exactly elite defensively.

Arizona Cardinals – 15/1 – 25/1

The Cards were one of the top Super Bowl favorites in the NFC, but at 1-3, they’ve clearly got tons of problems right now, starting with the poor play of quarterback Carson Palmer…which everyone should have seen coming following last year’s playoff debacle!

Minnesota Vikings – 25/1 – 17/2

Things weren’t looking good at all for the Vikings when they lost teddy Bridgewater before the start of the season, but right now, they look better than ever under the direction of Sam Bradford of all people. Minnesota might have the league’s best defense (sorry Denver) and now, they have a potent passing attack that will give more balance to their offense. Make no mistake about it….the Vikings are downright scary right now!

Denver Broncos – 20/1 – 12/1

It’s almost laughable to think the Broncos were the eight-best favorite to win Super Bowl 51, but then again, no one saw the rise of Trevor Siemian coming, although looking back, it seems foolish to not to have expected Denver to be super-elite defensively for the second straight season.

Legitimate Contenders

Philadelphia Eagles

At 3-0, the Birds are off to a fantastic start this season. More importantly, they’ve found what looks like a sure-fire superstar in rookie quarterback Carson Wentz and have turned their defense into one of the most aggressive units in the league under the direction of former Lions head coach and current coordinator Jim Schwartz. Dallas Cowboys Like Philadelphia, Dallas found out they have a future star at quarterback in fourth round pick Dak Prescott, a player that now, clearly should have been picked in the first round. Not only do the ‘Boys have a budding star in Prescott, but I believe they have a future Hall of Fame running back in Ezekiel Elliott. The future looks extremely bright in Dallas – but I’m expecting Jerry Jones to blow it by reinserting aging and completely brittle veteran Tony Romo as the starter at quarterback once he’s healthy enough to return from his latest injury. Atlanta Falcons The Falcons have the No. 1 offense in the league right now and I believe they’ll remain one of the most potent teams in the league all season long. In Matt Ryan, Julio Jones and Devonta Freeman, the Falcons have a trio as good as anyone’s. If Atlanta can improve defensively, not only could they reach the postseason, but they could make an extended run in the playoffs.
