NFL Week 14 Must Bet Games - 2018 Season

NFL Week 14 Must Bet Games – 2018 Season

Written by on July 26, 2018

With teams in both conference looking to put the pedal to the metal during the stretch run portion of the regular season, there’s no better time for an NFL fan or betting enthusiast to cash in with a potentially winning wager than late in the season. Week 14 is a perfect example of this thought process with a handful of pairings having the look of either, must-see or must-bet matchups that no football fan or betting aficionado should miss out on. In an effort to help you cash in early and often, I’ve highlighted the top three must-bet games on the NFL Week 14 schedule.

NFL Week 14 Must Bet Games – 2018 Season

Los Angeles Rams (-2.5) at Chicago Bears

The Rams look like a legitimate Super Bowl contender heading into 2018 after going 11-5 last season and ranking a stupendous first in scoring (29.9 ppg) and equally impressive 12th in points allowed (20.6 ppg). Not only did the Rams play excellent football on both sides of the ball a year ago under then, first-year head coach Sean McVay, but they added to their defense in a massive way this offseason by adding Pro Bowl cornerbacks Marcus Peters and Aqib Talib and play-making defensive lineman Ndamukonh. Conversely, Chicago is heading in a new direction after going 5-11 last season and moving on from former head coach John Fox and hiring former Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Matt Nagy. The Bears ranked a pitiful 29th in scoring last season (16.5 ppg) and although they also ranked an encouraging 20th in points allowed (20.0 ppg) under the excellent defensive schemes of Fox, Chicago simply is not ready to keep up with a team that is as well constructed as the Rams are. This Week 14 NFC clash looks like a massive mismatch just waiting to happen. The Rams win and cover the chalk with room to spare NFL betting enthusiasts! NFL Week 14 Betting Pick: Los Angeles Rams -2.5

Carolina Panthers (-2.5) at Cleveland Browns

The Cleveland Browns made a bunch of what I believe, were wise offseason moves in the NFL draft and free agency by trading for veteran quarterback Tyrod Taylor, wide receiver Jarvis Landry and adding running back Carlos Hyde while also nabbing former Oklahoma star signal-caller Baker Mayfield with the top pick in the NFL draft, All-American cornerback Denzel Ward with the fourth overall pick and a running back in former Georgia star Nick Chubb that could turn out to be one of the best picks of the entire draft. While I’m expecting the Browns to be markedly improved after going a winless 0-16 a year ago, I just don’t see them pulling off the upset, even at home, over a Carolina Panthers team that is simply superior to them on both sides of the ball. Not only did Cam Newton and the Panthers post a robust 11-5 record last season to tie New Orleans for the most wins in the competitive NFC South but they did so by ranking a respectable 12th in scoring (22.7 ppg) an 11th in points allowed (20.4 ppg). Are the Panthers a safe bet to win in NFL Week 14? In 2018, I thinking the Panthers could be even better offensively despite an encouraging fourth in rushing, as they play to utilize the clear-cut gifts of dual-threat running back Christian McCaffrey after failing to use their first round pick as much as they should have last season. This Week 14 matchup just looks like a game the Panthers should win by at least a touchdown despite being on the road. Back Carolina to do just that and you’ll end up one happy camper by the time this game is finished. NFL Week 14 Betting Pick: Carolina Panthers -2.5

New Orleans Saints (-3) at Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Jameis Winston and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers may have managed to beat Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints 31-24 at home in their 2017 regular season finale, but  they also got destroyed in their 30-10 road loss to the Saints in Week 9 last season and I believe this Week 14 matchup is going to be a lot closer to that outcome than their second meeting last season. The Bucs were mediocre on both sides of the ball last season as they closed out the 2017 season ranked 18th in scoring (20.9 ppg) and a discouraging 24th in points allowed (23.9 ppg). Not only that, but they’ll enter 2018 with some off-field drama with Winston being forced to miss the first three games of the season for violating the league’s personal conduct policy. Conversely, the Saints will enter 2018 with some legitimate Super Bowl hopes after going 11-5 last season to tie Carolina for the most wins in a competitive NFC South that placed a whopping three teams in the playoffs a year ago. New Orleans was quite literally one play away from reaching the NFC Championship game before falling victim to what is now known as the ‘Minneapolis Miracle’ in the divisional round. The Saints are undeniably the better team on both sides of the ball after finishing last season ranked fourth in scoring (28.0 ppg) and an eye-opening 10th in points allowed (20.4 ppg). New Orleans has the edge at quarterback, running back and definitely in the head coaching department and that’s why I like them to sweep the Bucs in 2018. I like Brees and company to get the big road win in this one and to cover the chalk by a narrow margin! NFL Week 14 Betting Pick: New Orleans Saints -3
