Expert 2016 NFL Betting Picks for Week 14
New York Jets at San Francisco 49ers (PK)
Week 14 NFL ATS Pick: 49ers (PK)Historically-speaking, the 49ers come into this series streaking on two wins. As a note, though, those victories came when San Francisco was an above-average team in the glory days of coach Jim Harbaugh. But as we all know, the Niners lost Harbaugh two seasons ago, and with him went the winning philosophy in the Bay Area, with the San Francisco team becoming a pale shadow of their former revered selves. Coach Chip Kelly’s high-profile signing as the new San Fran coach will probably inject a new lease of life into the Niners and make them better, but after the former Philadelphia coach saw his offseason experiments blow up on his face in 2015; we don’t need to warn you twice about trusting the 49ers to be a better team in 2015. Matter of fact, I’d have easily picked New York for the win here. Problem, however, is that the New York Jets are having a mess of an offseason and it’s hard to make sense or even clasp on any positivity from the madness that is going on in New York regarding player contracts and starters, so I’ll be sticking with San Francisco as the pick in this favorable home fixture, at least until further notice.
Pittsburgh Steelers (-2) at Buffalo Bills
Week 14 NFL ATS Pick: Steelers (-2)With or without Tyrod Taylor as Buffalo’s starting QB, there is no way on earth I would be going with the Bills as my ATS pick in this game. For one, both teams will probably be fighting for their playoff lives at this stage of the season and very teams are as clutch as the Steelers in such pressure-filled games. Also, Pittsburgh has dominated Buffalo for the better part of the past two decades, bringing with them a five-game winning streak into this series and owning an impressive 9-1 record against the Bills in their last 10 overall meetings, including a 3-1 mark in games played at Buffalo. As if that isn’t enough, the Steelers have a better-experienced and proven squad with plenty of success in the regular season and playoffs, something the largely inexperienced Bills, who are having the longest playoff drought in the NFL (spanning nearly two decades) can’t compare to. Keeping all that in mind, Pittsburgh should therefore be your best pick for the win and the game’s easily-coverable spread.
Seattle Seahawks at Green Bay Packers (-2)
Week 14 NFL ATS Pick: Packers (-2)Aaron Rodgers and the Packers have not lost to the Seahawks when playing in Green Bay since the turn of the new millennium (in 2000) and we don’t see that trend stopping in 2016. Both Seattle and Green Bay are great teams in their own respects and both of them are capable of finding mismatches to exploit against each other, but the history of this series shows that home teams often dominate and eventually find a way of winning the games. So, although I cannot rule out an upset here, I am inclined to lean on Rodgers and the Packers to use their home support to claim a win in this key fixture that is likely to have major postseason implications for both teams.
