Week 15 NFL Betting Lines: New Orleans At Arizona

Written by on December 16, 2016

While the Wild Card races are still quite tight in both conferences, this is the weekend where we are going to see several teams officially eliminated from the playoff picture. The New Orleans Saints and the Arizona Cardinals are among that group, and it is a longshot at best that either one of these two would be able to do enough to get in. Both are well off the pace, and would need a miracle of epic proportions in order to be still playing football after Week 17. These are a pair of teams that will have some decisions to make about their future in the final few weeks, and that includes deciding which players will continue to be a part of the team moving forward. There are going to be a lot of guys playing for their jobs in both squads, which should make things interesting in a game that is essentially meaningless. The bookies have the Cardinals in as a 3-point betting odds favorite.

A Closer Look At The Week 15 NFL Betting Lines: Saints At Cardinals

When: Sunday December 18 at 4:05 PM EST Where: University of Phoenix Stadium TV: FOX Radio: WWL and KTAR Live Stream: FOX Sports GO NFL Odds: TBA

Why bet on the New Orleans Saints

The Saints were very much in the division race about a month ago, but 4 losses in their last 5 games has seen them fall to a 5-8 record that has them 3 games back of the leaders in the division. As always, Drew Brees has been the man shouldering the weight of this team, but he just doesn’t have enough parts around him to be able to carry the Saints to the finish line. New Orleans Saints lead the league in passing yards, and are second in scoring in the NFL, but are currently sitting 30th in points against average. The one number that really jumps out for this team, in a positive way, is that they have gone 5-1 ATS when starting as an underdog this season.

Why bet on the Arizona Cardinals

The Cardinals can now officially not catch the Seattle Seahawks in the division after their rivals picked up a win on Thursday night. That leaves their path to the playoffs one that is going to be impossible to travel, which has to be a major disappointment for a Cardinals team that came into the season as one of the favorites to makes some real noise in the NFC. You hate to point the finger of blame at any one person, but QB Carson Palmer suddenly looks old and unreliable, and it might not be a huge surprise to see someone else under center next season. The Cardinals are a solid 4-2-1 at home this season, but they are just 4-9 ATS overall this season.

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

This is a tough one to call, as both of these teams have been a little erratic this season. Whenever this happens, I usually default to going with the home team, which is exactly what I am going to do with this one.
