The race for the NFC North division crown has been a bit of a strange one this season. It started off with the Minnesota Vikings looking unbeatable at the start of the year, despite the fact that they were dealing with injuries to several key players. As they faltered, the Detroit Lions rose, although they have made things very hard on themselves by winning a good many of their games via late 4th quarter comebacks. The Green Bay Packers have been sitting off the pace all season long, and have not looked as good as they usually do, but that is starting to change. QB Aaron Rodgers vowed a couple of weeks ago that his team was going to run the table to close out the season, and it’s beginning to look as though that may indeed happen. The Packers are rolling right now, and they will hope to keep it going when they head to Chicago to take on their division rivals in a game that they really need to win if the playoffs are to be the destination. The Packers start this game as a 6-point betting odds favorite.

Why bet on the Green Bay Packers

In the three weeks that have passed since Aaron Rodgers bold claim, the Packers have won all three games they have played in. Not only has the offense found new life, the defense has also been playing their part, too. The 38-10 win over the Seattle Seahawks in Week 14 may very well be the most complete game that the Green Bay Packers have played all season long. They are still 2 games back of the division leading Lions, though, and are realistically going to be looking at the Wild Card as their path to the playoffs. That road would become a good deal clearer with a win over the Bears this weekend.

Why bet on the Chicago Bears

The Bears season has been over for quite some time now, as they have only managed to put together 3 wins so far this season. The silver lining heading into this one is that all 3 of those wins have come at Soldier Field. The downside is that the Bears have not had much in the way of success versus the Packers, losing 4 of the last 5 meetings, including going down 26-10 earlier this season. Interestingly enough, the Bears have not been a bad bet of late, covering the spread in each of their last 4 games despite only winning one of them straight up. If they are to keep that streak going, they are going to have to find a way to slow down a hot Packers offense.
