Week 17 AFC West NFL Betting Odds: Oakland Vs Denver

Written by on December 28, 2016

The Oakland Raiders have a chance to win the AFC West and possibly get home-field advantage throughout the AFC playoffs. In order to accomplish either of their goals, they’ll have to get past their longtime AFC West division rivals, the Denver Broncos, in Week 17. Now, let’s find out if Oakland can get the SU win to both, win the AFC West and cover the NFL betting line as slight 1-point road underdogs.

Week 17 AFC West NFL Betting Odds: Raiders Vs Broncos

When: Sunday, January 1 at 4:25 PM ET Where: Sports Authority Field at Mile High TV: CBS Radio: Sirius XM Radio Live Stream: CBS Sports Network Odds: Denver -1

Oakland Raiders

The Oakland Raiders (12-3 SU, 10-5 ATS) were rolling right along en route to their first playoff appearance in over a decade when their worst nightmare possible happened. Superstar franchise quarterback Derek Carr was lost for the remainder of the season after suffering a broken fibula in last weekend’s 33-25 win over Indianapolis. Still, Oakland has won two straight and four of their last five games overall and are averaging a healthy 27.3 points per game this season to rank a stellar third in scoring. The Raiders have scored 33 points or more in three of their last five games. Oakland’s defense has improved the last few weeks while holding two of their last four opponents to 21 points or less, but still ranks an uninspiring 20th in points allowed by giving up 24.0 points per contest.

Denver Broncos

The Broncos (8-7 SU, 8-7 ATS) won’t be in the postseason after winning it all a year ago, but they can still hit the offseason feeling good about laying a costly beating on the hated Raiders. The bad news is that Denver has not only lost three straight games to see their postseason hopes go up I flames, but they’ve been held to a pitiful 10 points or less in each contest, including last weekend’s 33-10 beatdown at the hands of the Kansas City Chiefs. Denver averages an pedestrian 20.6 points per game to rank 22nd in scoring, but they still have a elite defense that has limited three of their last five opponents to 16 points or less and gives up just 19.4 points per game to rank a stellar sixth in points allowed.

Expert ATS Pick & Final Score Prediction

It’s a damn shame that Oakland’s Derek Carr got injured last weekend while in the midst of an MVP-caliber campaign, but I’m thinking the loss of their superstar signal-caller all but guarantees, not only a loss in this contest, but an early exit come playoff time. Denver has looked increasingly inept on offense in dropping their last three games, but I’m expecting Von Miller and the rest of Denver’s Pro Bowl-caliber defensive players to make life hell on Oakland backup-turned-starter Matt McGloin. The Broncos are 6-3 ATS in their last six home games and 7-3 ATS in their last 10 meetings against the Raiders.

My final score prediction is Denver 24 Oakland 17
