The goal of every team in pro football is to get off to the fastest start possible. Historical data clearly shows that your chances of getting into the postseason quickly diminish when you get off to a slow start. Teams coming into NFL Week 3 of the new season will already be starting to head into desperation mode, although we are not likely to see too many of those teams in the games we are going to focus on in this week NFL betting wise. As always, there are a few games on the calendar that look a little more intriguing than most, and those are the games that we are going to take a closer look at.

New Orleans Saints vs Atlanta FalconsThe NFC South was incredibly competitive and entertaining last season, and we can probably expect more of the same this year. The Falcons are once again going to be coming into the new season with one of the top offenses in the league, but they will be going against a Saints offense that is not that far behind. Drew Brees finally has a running game to play with, which will ease some of the load for the QB. That said, we can still expect Brees to go off and put up some numbers, so it’s going to be fun to watch Brees and Matt Ryan go the gunslinging route in Week 3.
Tennessee Titans vs Jacksonville JaguarsBoth of these teams came out of the NFC South last season and picked up wins in the playoffs. They are both favored to do well again this year but may also need to contend with a Houston Texans team that is likely to be a whole lot better this season. Dominance in the division games may prove to be the difference between making the playoffs and missing out, so while this one comes very early in the season, it is still an incredibly important game for both teams.
San Francisco 49ers vs Kansas City ChiefsNo team is coming into the new season with more buzz surrounding them than the San Francisco 49ers. After swinging a trade to land QB Jimmy Garoppolo from the New England Patriots, the 49ers closed the season out with 5 straight wins. They have been active in the open market and had a very good draft, leading many to believe that San Francisco may very week be for real this season. The Chiefs will have a young new QB under center, but they will also still have the core group of players that has made KC a playoff team for the last few years. This is a big test for both teams.
LA Chargers vs LA RamsThis is a rivalry that has not really had enough time to come to the boil just yet, but we can always hope that these two will quickly start to develop an intense dislike of one another. The Rams had a stellar year in 2017 and have gone all out to bring in some big names in an attempt to be even better this year. They were offensively explosive last year, and could well go to town on this Chargers defense if the moves they made to shore things up don’t pan out as expected.
