Is there anything better in sports than a deciding Game 7 in a playoff series. In terms of drama and excitement, these games have everything, and the second round of the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs is going to give us at least two Game 7 match-ups to enjoy. We have a pair of them to look forward to on Wednesday night, with the late one being a game that you need to try and stay up for if you are out on the East Coast.

The Western Conference series between the Anaheim Ducks and the Edmonton Oilers has had a little bit of everything, and it will all be decided on Wednesday night, or more likely, the early hours of Thursday morning. This has been a playoff series where hoe ice advantage has meant very little, making it all the tougher to predict how this one might go. Will the postseason experience of the Ducks pay off, or will the young guns of the Edmonton Oilers continue to be a surprise?

Why bet on the Edmonton Oilers

I will be the first to admit that I believed this series to be over when the Ducks came back from a 2-0 deficit to take a 3-2 series lead. It seemed as though experience was finally going to be prevail, but the Oilers are proving to be a team that will just not go away. They seem to be able to shrug off a bad loss and forget about it the moment the game is over. After a stunning collapse in Game 5, the Oilers quickly regrouped and laid a 7-1 thumping on the Ducks to force a Game 7. It is now up to Anaheim to find a way to respond, as the momentum appears to have shifted back to the Oilers. This is a team that has offense all over the ice, and they are a very dangerous bunch.

Why bet on the Anaheim Ducks

Game 5 in this series appeared to be the one that would prove to be the final nail in the coffin. Down by 3 goals with just over 3 minutes to play, the Ducks tied things up before going on to win in double OT. Perhaps there was a bit of a letdown after that win, or perhaps the Ducks believed that they had the series in the bag, but they simply did not show up for Game 6. The good news for Anaheim is that they will have home ice advantage for the deciding game, but the bad news is that they lost the first 2 games of this series in their own building. The fact of the matter is that the majority of the pressure is on the Ducks.

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

I am really on the fence with this one, especially since this series has thrown us a bunch of curveballs. At the end of the day, I need to go with Anaheim and the home ice advantage, even though it hasn’t meant much in this series.
