2019 Stanley Cup Playoffs Eastern Conference Finals

Boston Bruins vs Carolina Hurricanes

Game 1 on Thursday, May 9 should set the tone for this one. Carolina has been on fire. They haven’t lost since Washington pasted them 6-0 on April 20. That’s a string of 6 straight NHL Playoff game wins.

The victories might come with a caveat, though. They have looked good, but they swept an overachieving New York Islanders squad in the Conference Semifinals. Plus, it took them overtime to beat Washington in that memorable Game 7.

While the Hurricanes are hot, Boston is surging. The difference is that the Bruins got better in their 4-2 series win over the Columbus Blue Jackets. The Blue Jackets had swept the Tampa Bay Lightning in the first round. They looked great when taking a 2-1 series lead. Unfortunately for the Blue Jackets, the Bruins turned it on.

Boston dominated in the next three matchups: 4-1 in Game 4, 4-3 in Game 5, and 3-0 in Game 6. The Bruins flipped the switch. It’s going to be hard for Carolina to switch it off.

2019 Stanley Cup Playoffs Prediction: Boston Bruins in 6 games

St. Louis Blues vs San Jose Sharks

Just like Boston-Carolina, St. Louis-San Jose could be a tale of two teams that took different paths to get to the Conference Finals. San Jose struggled against the Colorado Avalanche while the St. Louis Blues survived against one of the top defensive teams in hockey.

San Jose exchanged wins and losses with the Avalanche throughout the series. They beat Colorado 5-2 in Game 1. In Game 2, Colorado turned the tables with a 4-3 win. As luck would have it, San Jose’s turn to win happened in Game 7, which they did 3-2 at home.

As opposed to the Sharks exchanging wins and losses with the Avalanche, St. Louis took charge in their series versus the Dallas Stars. Dallas allows an average of 2.4 goals per match. Three times the Blues scored 3 or more against the Stars in the series. In Game 7, St. Louis beat the Stars at their own style. St. Louis won 2-1 in overtime.

In Game 6, St. Louis took down Dallas 4-1 on the road. The Blues, like Boston, are surging. They will beat San Jose and march to the NHL Stanley Cup Finals.

2019 Stanley Cup Playoffs Prediction: St. Louis Blues in 5 games
