Okay MyBookie hockey betting faithful, while the 2021 NHL draft is now in the rear view mirror and teams in both conference have gone about the business of trying to improve their respective teams via trades and free agency, there are still a handful of rumors making the rounds. Let’s have a look at the latest hockey news out there so you can wager on their NHL odds.
NHL Rumors & News Up to Date
Let’s get started in Winnipeg where the biggest name on the rumor mill is superstar winger Patrik Laine. Winnipeg’s unhappy right winger is just 22-years-old, but he’s reportedly disgruntled and wants out.
A Young Star Is Available
Laine scored 30 or more goals in each of his first three seasons in the NHL and finished this past season with 28 and 35 assists in 68 games. Recent rumors say that the Columbus Blue Jackets and Carolina Hurricanes both are in pursuit of Laine, although the Hurricanes have already reportedly balked at Winnipeg’s asking price. Another recent rumor say that Boston could go after the high-scoring all-star, but as of right now, nothing is set in concrete as far as Winnipeg’s intentions are concerned.
Dumba on The Move?
Recent rumors also have Minnesota Wild defenseman Matt Dumba possibly on the move. The 26-year-old had six goals and 18 assists in 69 games this past season. Could the blueliner be headed to Winnipeg as part of a deal for Laine? It could happen.
Bryan Rust
28-year-old right winger Bryan Rust put up a stellar 27 goals and 29 assists in 55 games for Pittsburgh, but he’s reportedly on the trade block despite his stupendous campaign. If the Penguins do decide to move Rust, there won’t be a lack of suitors, though none have been identified as of yet.
Deal Struck in Ottawa!
The Ottawa Senators have re-signed center Chris Tierney to a two-year deal after he posted 11 goals and 26 assists in 71 games. The 26-year-old will make $2.8 million in year one, and $4.2 million in year two.
No way Jose!
There’s no way that now, 44-year-old retired right winger Shane Doan returns to the NHL after hanging up his skates following the 2016-17 season is there? Well, hold your horses. Recent reports say that Doan, who scored six goals and had 21 assists in his final season, has had recent conversations that could reunite him with the same Phoenix Coyotes team that he played 17 seasons for. Stay tuned on this one NHL betting buffs.
J-E-T-S, Jets, Jets, Jets!
More rumors out of Winnipeg say the Jets could be looking to package restricted free agents in defenseman Sami Niku and forward Jack Roslovic for a defenseman.
