Arizona Coyotes captain and Oliver Ekman-Larsson looks like he’ll be on the move soon after spending his entire 10-year career in the desert. Rumors say the veteran defenseman could land with either Boston or Vancouver. Ekman-Larsson is in control of where he goes next thanks to his no-trade clause.

Torey Krug Free Agency

Speaking of Boston, the Bruins aren’t making any progress in their talks with their own veteran defense man, Torey Krug. With Krug set to hit free agency, Boston will either look to land Ekman-Larson via a potential trade or re-sign Krug, who hasn’t been too keen on staying in Beantown apparently.

Net-Minder In Need in Chicago

The Chicago Blackhawks need a goalie and the Pittsburgh Penguins are looking to move five-year veteran Matt Murray who went 20-11-5 with a 2.87 goals-against-average in 38 starts this past season.  The Penguins re-signed Tristan Jarry to a three-year deal, so Murray, a restricted free agent, will almost certainly be back in Steel town in 2020-21.

Making a Move in Minny

Minnesota Wild GM Bill Guerin is looking to add a quality net-minder and reportedly has his sights set on veteran Marc Andre Fleury. The Stanley Cup-winning Fleury looks like a perfect fit in Minnesota, but he reportedly wants to go back to Pittsburgh, so that could throw a wrench into any proposed deal.

Avs Look to Add Depth

Colorado Avalanche GM Joe Sakic could go after net-minder Corey Crawford if the Chicago Blackhawks do not bring him back.

NY Rangers

Veteran goalie Henrik Lundqvist is heading out of the Big Apple, even if no one knows where his next destination will be. After 15 seasons with the New York Rangers, Lundqvist is ready to bolt after playing in a modest 30 games this past season. He could stay in the NHL, but rumors persist that he could play in Sweden. Stay tuned for more on this one.

Toronto Trifecta

The Toronto Maple Leafs are reportedly in talks with, Philadelphia, Minnesota and Los Angeles as they look to move right-winger William Nylander so they can go after St. Louis Blues defense man Alex Pietrangelo. Rumors say that St. Louis will hold on to his rights as long as possible in order to move him in a draft day deal.

Laine To City of Lights?

The Vegas Golden Knights are looking to add some scoring to their Stanley Cup-contending team and it could come in the form of disgruntled Winnipeg Jets star Patrik Laine. In four seasons, Laine has never scored fewer than the 28 goals he posted this past season. Laine wants out of Winnipeg and has multiple teams interested in his elite scoring ability.

COVID-19 News

The Edmonton Oilers have announced that superstar forward Connor McDavid recently tested positive for COVID-19. McDavid has entered into voluntary self-quarantine and is reportedly experiencing mild symptoms. The team did not disclose any information about where McDavid was tested, but NHL facilities are not yet open for groups to train together. Those changes are scheduled for October 15, when facilities will follow similar protocols to the return to play phase 2, limiting on-ice groups to 12 people at a time. The Oilers say McDavid is “doing well.”
