NHL 2021 North Division Odds Expert Analysis Update

Written by on March 31, 2021

When sports began to return last year, each league had their own way of handling things and you have to say that the NHL were among the very best in pro sports. They had a tough act to follow after a fantastic playoff last season but realigning the divisions into a regional setup has proven to be another stroke of genius. It’s a move that has proven to be a hot among players and fans alike, and while it is unlikely that this will be a permanent move, it’s one that we are going to enjoy while we can. The divisional races are all tight right now, but we are going to focus on the Canadian teams in the North Division for this piece. Let’s take a look at the teams favored to win that division so you can get ready to make your bets against their NHL Divisional odds.

Updated Odds to Win North Division – NHL Betting

Toronto Maple Leafs (-150)

The Maple Leafs started the season as the firm favorites to not only win the division, but also as one of the favorites to win the Stanley Cup. While they are sitting in the top spot in the North, it is not the runaway success that some people expected it might be. The Maple Leafs have picked up 47 points through 35 games to this point in the season, but they have cooled off of late and have gone just 4-5-1 in their last 10 games. That run has allowed both the Winnipeg Jets and Edmonton Oilers to get back in the picture, with just 2 points separating first from third.

Winnipeg Jets (+350)

The Jets are sitting in second in the North Division, having amassed 46 points through 36 games, which is one more than the Maple Leafs have played. While the Jets have a winning record at home, they have actually been better on the road, which could come in handy once the playoffs roll around. Still, if they can get a little better in their own building, they might just be able to sneak into that top spot coming down the stretch. The Jets are 6-4-0 in their last 10 games and will likely be a little disappointed that they didn’t take better advantage of the Leafs slump.

Edmonton Oilers (+420)

There have been few teams as fun to watch as the Edmonton Oilers this season, but their style of play is one that might not be suited to the playoffs. They are currently the second highest scorers in the league, sitting a goal off the pace set by the Tampa Bay Lightning, but they also surrender a lot of goals, Still, they manage to win more often than not and are on a solid run of form right now, going 7-2-1 in their last 10 games. That has them just 2 points back of the Leafs and very much in the conversation for the division title.

Montreal Canadiens (+750)

At this stage of the season, you would ordinarily look at a team sitting 10 points off the pace and give them no shot at winning the division. It may be too early to do that with Montreal, though, as they have played just 31 games, 4 fewer than the Leafs and 5 fewer than the Oilers and Jets. Yes, it’s always better to have the points in the bag, but things can tighten up dramatically if Montreal wins those games in hand. They will, though, need to do better than their 4-2-4 record in the last 10 games.
