How to Bet Bruins vs Jets NHL Betting Lines & Game Info

Bruins vs Jets Season Series

Boston goes for the sweep as it beat the Jets 5-4 on January 9 in Beantown. David Pastrnak had a hat trick and Jake DeBrusk added two goals, including the go-ahead score in the third period. It was Pastrnak’s third hat trick this season and eighth of his career. Bruins defenseman Zdeno Chara was inactive due to injury.

Backup Jaroslav Halak got the start for the Bruins. He stopped 17 shots. Jets goaltender Connor Hellebuyck rested on the second night of the Jets’ back-to-back. Backup Laurent Brossoit finished with 31 saves. Kyle Connor, Andrew Copp, Neal Pionk and Mark Scheifele had goals for the Jets. Nikolaj Ehlers added a pair of assists.

Why Bet on Boston?

The Bruins haven’t played since a 3-2 home win over Vegas on Jan. 21. Jake DeBrusk tied it early in the third period and David Krejci got the go-ahead goal with 7:42 remaining. Krejci also assisted on Jeremy Lauzon’s first goal of the season. Krejci had missed the previous two games with an upper-body injury. He has 12 goals and 34 points in 42 games this season. Lauzon’s goal was his second-career goal in 18 NHL games. Jaroslav Halak stopped 27 shots and picked up an assist.

The NHL goal-scoring leader is Boston’s David Pastrnak with 37. Pastrnak was also named the MVP of the 2020 NHL All-Star Game. Pastrnak had four goals and two assists in two games during the 3-on-3 tournament. He hasn’t gone more than five games without a goal this entire season and has been held pointless in just 13 of his 51 games this year.

Another Great Year

Also having a career year is Brad Marchand. In 51 games to date, Marchand has registered 65 points. That tracks as 105 points over 82 games, which would surpass his current career-best of 100 points he tallied last season.

Netminder Tuukka Rask (concussion) is likely to return to action and start Friday’s game against Winnipeg. Rask was on the ice for Thursday’s practice and coach Bruce Cassidy said afterward that the Bruins goalie is “looking great.”

The Bruins have recalled winger Karson Kuhlman and Lauzon back up from Providence. Both young players were sent down to the AHL during the break to stay sharp. One player who wasn’t recalled from Providence was goaltender Dan Vladar, a clear sign that Rask is fully recovered from the concussion he suffered in Columbus that knocked him out of the final few games ahead of the extended break.

Why Bet on Winnipeg?

The Jets lost their fourth in a row in their last game, 4-3 in Columbus on Jan. 22. Oliver Bjorkstrand’s second goal of the game with 5:38 left gave the Blue Jackets the lead and young goalie Elvis Merzlikins held on the rest of the way to seal the win. Merzlikins stopped 27 shots. Winnipeg is now 4-9-2 in their last 15.

Kyle Connor had a goal and an assist, and Mason Appleton and Neal Pionk also scored, and Laurent Brossoit had 25 saves for Winnipeg. Connor’s goal late in the first period gave the Jets a 2-1 lead. He also helped set up Pionk’s go-ahead power-play tally (3-2) in the second frame. Connor has 12 points in 11 games since the start of the new year and 25 goals and 50 points in 51 games this season. Appleton has supplied three points in 26 games this season. Pionk has produced a career-high 32 points through 51 games.

Bruins vs Jets is going to be a close one.

Should be No. 1 netminder Connor Hellebuyck back in there for this one. He’s a Vezina Trophy candidate. Hellebuyck has a 21-16-4 record, 2.74 GAA, and .917 save percentage in 42 contests this season. The Jets are 9-4-2 when getting two days or more of rest between games this season. After having eight days off, the Jets play 16 games in the next 30 days and have two days off between games just twice in that span.

More Important Numbers

Blake Wheeler leads the Jets in career scoring against the Bruins with 17 points (7G, 10A) in 21 games. Mark Scheifele has 11 points (3G, 8A) in 13 career games against Boston. The past five games between the Jets and Bruins have been decided by one goal. Winnipeg has won the past two games against Boston at Bell MTS Place and five of the past seven meetings.

Winnipeg has made a couple of moves coming out of the break, recalling defenseman Cameron Schilling and forward Logan Shaw from the Manitoba Moose of the AHL. Schilling, 31, has played 42 games for the Moose this season and has 20 points (5G, 15A) and 12 penalty minutes. Schilling has played 10 NHL games for Winnipeg and the Washington Capitals in his nine pro seasons. Shaw, 27, has played 25 games for the Jets this season and recorded his first three points (2G, 1A) for the club.
