Dallas Stars games postponed this week, but it’s not COVID’s fault
Once again, the Dallas Stars must postpone games. We know what you’re thinking. Isn’t Dallas the team that had to postpone the start to their season because of the coronavirus?
Yes. Yes they are. But this time, the postponements are out of the Stars’ control. As of Thursday, the Stars have had to postpone 3 straight games.
Cold weather has shocked states in the southern part of the country, including Texas. It’s gotten so cold in Texas that they’ve had to postpone hockey games. One of the problems the state faces is the turbines they use to generate heat have frozen. They’ve stopped working. Some people have actually passed away due to the cold weather.
As far as Dallas is concerned, the NHL has yet to cancel Saturday’s Stars-Lightning matchup. Hopefully, Dallas can get back onto the ice soon.
The postponement to their start of their season put them in a bind. Now with this postponement, Dallas could be the first NHL squad to have to cancel games this season.
After a hot start, the Minnesota Wild fall apart
What’s up with the Minnesota Wild? Minnesota started the season going 4-1 SU. Since then, it’s been a disaster.
Granted, the Wild had to postpone 5 straight. Perhaps, that’s why the Kings beat the Wild 4-0 in Minnesota’s first game after the postponements.
Then again, the Wild could just be a mediocre squad. 3 of their 6 wins came against the Los Angeles Kings, one of the worst teams in the league. Minnesota has beaten the Avalanche once, the Ducks once, and the Sharks once.
Maybe, Minnesota isn’t one of the top four squads in the West. The Avalanche, Blues, and Golden Knights look like locks for playoff spots and Arizona is rising. If Minnesota doesn’t pick it up, their chances of making the postseason could end by mid-March.
Central Division becomes tightest in NHL
The Tampa Bay Lightning are 10-3 with an overtime loss. Hockey fans would think that with such a great record, the defending champs are pulling away from their competitors in the Central Division.
Right now, Tampa isn’t a lock to make the playoffs. The good news if you’re a TB fan? Steven Stamkos has returned to the lineup and Victor Hedman is playing out of his mind. The Lightning should make the playoffs, but the fact that so many teams are within a point to 3 points of the Stanley Cup Champs tells us the Central Division is deep.
