Second of three meetings. The Kings lost in Big D on Oct. 23, 4-2. Jason Spezza and John Klingberg each had a goal and an assist and the Stars snapped a three-game losing streak at the time. Seven of the 11 Dallas forwards had at least a point. Ben Bishop made 31 saves for Dallas, which never trailed. Anze Kopitar and Tyler Toffoli scored second-period goals for the Kings, who lost their fifth straight at the time. Jonathan Quick stopped 19 shots for Los Angeles. Kopitar has 16 career goals in 59 games against the Stars.
Why Bet on LA Kings?
LA Kings continue to sit last in the Pacific and are off a 3-2 shootout loss in Minnesota on Tuesday. Jason Zucker got his first career shootout goal in five tries for the win. Zucker was the only shooter from either team to convert.
Ilya Kovalchuk scored a goal. Down a goal in the second period, Kovalchuk made his way to the net, potting home the rebound for the goal. The 35-year-old winger has four points in his last five games, bringing him to eight goals and 21 points in 35 games this season. Jeff Carter also scored in this one for the Kings. Dion Phaneuf contributed an assist, just Phaneuf’s second point in 40 games this season.
Jonathan Quick stopped 40 of 42 shots. Quick had some impressive saves, with his best coming in the second period when he robbed Jason Zucker of a goal off a rebound with his toe. His record falls to 8-11-3 with a 2.80 goals-against-average and a .907 save percentage.
Drew Doughty currently holds the Kings record for consecutive games played (375). Doughty also currently leads the NHL in TOI (26:39). He finished last season at the top of the league in TOI/GP (26:50). The last player to lead the league in TOI/GP in consecutive seasons was Ryan Sutter, who did so from the 2012-13 season to the 2014-15 season.
Since the introduction of 3-on-3 overtime at the start of the 2015-16 season, the Kings lead the league with 37 wins in the extra frame. The Kings are two road wins shy of 700 in franchise history.

Why Bet on Dallas?
The Dallas Stars are in a funk right now with two goals scored during a three-game skid. They were 2-0 home losers to Tampa Bay on Tuesday. Andrei Vasilevskiy stopped 35 shots while helping to stifle six Dallas Stars power plays. Four of the Dallas power-play chances came in the second period with Vasilevskiy protecting a 1-0 lead.
Alexander Radulov had a game-high six shots on goal but also finished with a minus-1 rating in 23:32 of ice-time. Andrew Cogliano made his Dallas debut a day after a trade that sent Devin Shore to Anaheim. Cogliano, who took Shore’s No. 17, had no shots in 12 minutes. Anton Khudobin allowed two goals on 21 shots. He’s now 8-9-2 on the year, with a 2.46 goals-against-average and a .923 save percentage.
The Stars had 27 more shot attempts than Tampa Bay. They had nearly double the number of scoring chances (33-17). They generally kept the Lightning out of the slot and were dangerous off the rush.
Winger Jason Dickinson (back) will be back in the lineup on Thursday night. Dickinson, who has been out due to back spasms, will play for the first time since Dec. 22. He could find himself on a combination with Cogliano and Jason Spezza, but coach Jim Montgomery hasn’t made a final determination on that yet.
Dallas has been struggling for a while. The top line of Tyler Seguin, Jamie Benn and Radulov has gone cold in recent games. The team has eight goals in the past six games. If you want to go back further, it’s 28 goals in 14 games. This team needs to get better at possessing the puck, at creating scoring chances, and at finishing them. Even with their six power-play opportunities Tuesday, the Stars still rank 30th in the league at 122. They have to possess the puck to up that number.
