Written by on March 23, 2016

We are now at the stage of the NHL season where playoff spots are being clinched, which means that the teams who are on the outside looking in are starting to be eliminated. There are still an awful lot of tight races being run in both conferences at the moment, which means that there are only a small number of teams that are officially in or out right now. One team that has definitely punched their postseason ticket are the LA Kings, which shouldn’t really come as a major surprise. This is a team that has hoisted the Stanley Cup twice in the past few years, and who are playing in a Pacific Division that is a whole lot weaker than most of us thought it would be. The Kings are not really yet in a position to start resting guys, though, as the Anaheim Ducks are still close enough to steal away the division title. The Kings will try to increase their lead at the top when they travel to Winnipeg to face the Jets on Thursday night. The updated NHL betting odds for this one will be available as they happen.

Bet the Los Angeles Kings Vs Winnipeg Jets NHL Odds

When: Thursday, March 24 at 8 PM EST Where: MTS Centre, Winnipeg TV: FSWHD Radio: KABC and CFRW NHL Odds: TBA

Why bet on the LA Kings

The game against the Jets will represent the final opportunity for the LA Kings (44-24-5) to get something out of their current 3-game road trip. Losses to Nashville and Minnesota has taken the Kings to a 6-3-1 record in their last 10 games, whilst leaving their road record on the season at still very respectable 21-13-3. This may just be a sign that the Kings are relaxing a little after clinching a playoff spot, but with both Anaheim and San Jose sitting very close in the division, it’s a swoon that you would expect them to break out of rather quickly. The Kings already have a comfortable win over the Jets under their belts this season, and they have to be favorites to get another one here. LA are averaging 2.7 GPG, and are giving up 2.3 GPG.

Why bet on the Winnipeg Jets

The Jets (30-37-6) have been one of the more disappointing teams in the league this season. This is a group that is big and fast, and a lot of folks, myself included, believed that they would take a serious run at the playoffs this season. Things have not turned out that way, though, and the Jets look like a very beaten bunch heading into the final few weeks of the regular season. They are sitting at the bottom of the Central Division right now, and are still in with a shot at finishing the season with the worst record in the league. They are coming off a win in their last start, though, so perhaps they will find a way to restore some pride before they head for the golf course in a few weeks. The jets are averaging 2.5 GPG, and are giving up 2.9 GPG.

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

This is a game that I think the Kings will win, but I’m not convinced it will be as comfortable as their last meeting with the Jets.
