Ottawa At Boston Odds, Free Pick & TV Info

Written by on March 20, 2017

It’s clinching time in the NHL, as we now have 3 teams that have already booked safe passage into the playoffs. There are probably going to be a few more teams joining that list this week, but getting in is not a sign that it’s time to relax, as there is still a lot of jockeying for position going on. The Ottawa Senators and Boston Bruins are both very likely going to be a part of the postseason and both still have a shot at winning the Atlantic Division and giving themselves a more manageable opening round match-up. The Senators are in second place in the division, 4 points back of the Montreal Canadiens and 4 ahead of the chasing Bruins. If Boston are to move up and make a run at the top spot, they need this game in a pretty bad way. This looks like being one of the better games on the schedule this week, and even though they are at home, this is still a tough game for the Bruins. Find the updated NHL betting odds here.

Why bet on the Ottawa Senators

The Ottawa Senators (39-24-8) have gone off the boil a little of late, and are coming into this one on a 4-game losing skid. That said they are still 6-2-2 in the last 10, which gives you an idea of how well they had been playing prior to this little blip on the radar. I expect them to pull out of this funk sooner rather than later, and the Bruins may well be the team that they can use to haul themselves back up. After all, the Senators have won both previous meetings with Boston this season, not to mention 6 of their last 7 games against them overall. Ottawa have been solid on the road this season at 20-13-0, so they should have no fear about making a trip to the Garden.

Why bet on the Boston Bruins

The Bruins (38-27-6) are desperately trying to close the gap at the top of the Atlantic Division, and are doing a good job of it, going 7-3-0 in their last 10. They ended last week on a bit of a sour note, though, taking a 7-4 pounding at the hands of the Edmonton Oilers. They have no time to linger to long on that defeat, though, as they have the Maple Leafs on Monday night followed by this important game with the Senators on Tuesday. As mentioned earlier the Bruins are going to need to figure out how to beat Ottawa, as just 1 win in the last 7 meetings suggests that the Senators have their number.

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

I expect this to be a close one, but there are a couple of factors that come into play with my pick. First there is Ottawa’s dominance over Boston and then you have to consider that this will be the second game in consecutive nights for the Bruins. I like the Senators here.
