The Predators lost 3-0 at home vs. Vegas on Saturday to see a two-game winning streak end. Chandler Stephenson, Nicolas Roy and Reilly Smith scored, and Marc-Andre Fleury made 19 saves. Fleury finished his third shutout of the season and 59th in his career, breaking a tie with Nashville’s Pekka Rinne and tying Evgeni Nabokov for 18th all-time. The Golden Knights fired 29 shots on goal in the first two periods to the Predators’ eight. In the first period, the Predators had three power plays and two shots on goal.
Rinne allowed two goals on 38 shots in the loss. Rinne fell to 17-12-3 with a 3.01 goals-against average and .898 save percentage across his 32 appearances this season.
The loss had the Predators looking for answers.
“It’s not good enough from our side,” Preds captain Roman Josi said. “They outplayed us for two periods, and they were the better team. They were faster than us and won more battles. It was still 1-0 [to start the third period], and we had a chance to win it, but we couldn’t get it done.”
“Disappointing,” Rinne said. “We talked before the game [and said] it’s our playoff time now. It’s disappointing. We’ve had a tough record at home, and [this is] another home loss… They had a back-to-back, and it looked like they were the [fresher] team. Just disappointed.”
Winger Calle Jarnkrok (illness) won’t play on Tuesday night versus Winnipeg. Jarnkrok didn’t take part in Monday’s practice, but he will travel with the team. It will be his third straight game missed. He has 12 goals and 27 points in 49 games this season. Defenseman Ryan Ellis hasn’t played since Jan. 1 when he suffered an upper-body injury. He’s with the team but not expected to play Tuesday.
