Washington At Pittsburgh NHL Game 6 Winning Predictions

Written by on May 8, 2017

One of the oldest clichés in professional sports is the one about it being tough to repeat as a champion. Sure, it may be overused, but it is also very true. Every sport is tough, but perhaps none tougher than hockey. This is a brutal sport, with every player on the ice just one hit away from seeing their season come to a premature end. The Pittsburgh Penguins are the defending Stanley Cup champions, and while they have looked very good again though the opening two rounds, they are starting to see injuries become a major concern. They have already seen Kris Letang go down for the year, and then had to play without Sidney Crosby for a game after he got his bell rung in the first period of Game 3. Crosby returned for Game 5, but was mostly ineffective in a loss that helped keep the Capitals season alive. The second round series moves back to Pittsburgh for Game 6, where the champions will have another shot at bringing this series to an end. Find the latest hockey betting odds here.

Why bet on the Washington Capitals

Down 3-1 in the series, the doomsayers were already saying that the Washington Capitals were once again going to come up short in the postseason. They might yet fall pretty to another early round exit, but they at least proved that they have some fight left in them after avoiding elimination in Game 5. A couple of quick goals for the Capitals turned that game around and led them to a 4-2 win. Going into Pittsburgh and getting a win is no easy task, but the Capitals have already done it this postseason, and were perhaps a little unlucky not to win both games in Pittsburgh this postseason. That said, the Penguins are lethal when they smell blood in the water, making this task that much tougher.

Why bet on the Pittsburgh Penguins

The big question heading into this critical Game 6 is sure to be in regards to the health of Sidney Crosby. We are aware that he would not have been allowed to play had he not cleared the concussion protocol, but it’s still hard to come back in full stride after taking a hit like he did in Game 3. The good news is that he has had one full game to shake off any rust that may have been clinging to him after missing almost 2 full games, and he will have the benefit of what is sure to be a highly vocal home crowd cheering him on when Monday night rolls around.

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

The Pittsburgh Penguins are a team that know how to kill off a series when they get the chance, and they are not likely to pass up this huge opportunity in their own building. Another close game, but I think the Penguins win.
