Soccer Betting Analysis for Men’s Olympic Soccer Tournament July 22 Matches

Spain -1 ½ (-135) Vs Egypt +1 ½ (+102)

  • When: Thursday, July 22

Unlike other European League teams, Spain can play as many La Liga under-23 members as possible. There’s a law in Spain that requires La Liga clubs to allow players to participate in the Olympics. That gives the Spanish a big edge over every team in the tournament. Athletic Bilbao goalkeeper Unai Simon, Barcelona players Eric Garcia and Pedri, Villareal’s Pau Torres, and Real Sociedad player Mikel Oyarzabal will ensure Spain easily beats Egypt on the handicap.

Soccer Pick: Spain

France -109 Vs Mexico +320

  • When: Thursday, July 22

France is loaded with terrific player, including 19-year-old Nathanial Mbuku. But even though he’s just 22, Kylian Mbappe won’t play. Mexico could have a slight edge with Diego Lainez. The 21-year-old is a Real Betis right-winger. If he can hang with the best in La Liga, he should be able to hang with a French squad missing Paul Pogba, Kylian Mbappe, and Antoine Griezmann.

Soccer Pick: Mexico

Republic of Korea -158 Vs New Zealand +520

  • When: Thursday, July 22

New Zealand is a solid bunch. Danny Hay played for Leeds. Striker Chris Wood has played for Burnley in the EPL and has Olympic experience. But the Republic of Korea should be on the short list of teams that could upset the Spanish. South Korea has younger talent some of which has started to show up on European League clubs. Korea should win.

Soccer Pick: Republic of Korea

Saudi Arabia +370 Vs Ivory Coast -128

  • When: Thursday, July 22

The best soccer player at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics could strap on the cleats for the Ivory Coast. Few teams will send a player of Amad Diallo’s caliber to the pitch. At the age of 19, Diallo has secured a spot with Manchester United. He’ll ensure the Ivory Coast handles Saudi Arabia.

Soccer Pick: Ivory Coast

Australia +500 Vs Argentina -185

  • When: Thursday, July 22

Argentina sends big talent to the pitch. Goalkeeper Jeremias Ledesma plays for Cadiz and defender Claudio Bravo plays for the Portland Timbers. Argentina will count on young Velez Sarsfield player Thiago Almada to control the midfield. There’s some talent on the Australian side, but it doesn’t match up to Argentina’s.

Soccer Pick: Argentina

Romania +129 Vs Honduras +235

  • When: Thursday, July 22

Both teams send quality players to the pitch. On paper, Romania has a slight edge, but Honduras’ soccer program has gotten better and better. In fact, soccer across Central America has gotten better. In a match that could go either way, we must side with the team offering overlay odds.

Soccer Pick: Honduras

South Africa +1 ½ (-102) Vs  Japan -1 ½ (-129)

  • When: Thursday, July 22

20-year-old Japanese star Takefusa Kubo plays for Real Madrid. South Africa has no player that should stick with Kubo. Not only that, but Japan is the host nation. So they’ll have an incentive to start their medal quest on the right foot. Backing the Japanese on the handicap is the play.

Soccer Pick: Japan

Germany +265 Vs Brazil +101

  • When: Thursday, July 22

Thursday’s top tournament opening match pits mighty Brazil versus strong Germany. Lead by Richarlison, Brazil is absolutely loaded. Most believe Brazilian Gabriel Martinelli wins the Golden Boot. Germany has some talent, though. Also, unlike Brazil, Germany will start a veteran, Max Kruse, with plenty of international experience. The odds make the Germans an overlay.

Soccer Pick: Germany
