In just 2 ½ months, we’ll see the 2022 college football season kick-off. In looking at the preseason rankings, we see a lot of familiar names at the top of the list. The oddsmakers have also released their preseason odds to win the national championship, and there are many familiar names at the top of that list as well.
In seeing some of those names, we have found a couple that we think could be big betting disappointments this season. Let’s take a look at those two teams and give you some background on why we think they’ll let you down if you place a wager against their NCAA Football Odds.
Which College Football Teams Will Let Bettors Down in 2022?
Oklahoma Sooners
The Oklahoma Sooners have gone through a lot of changes coming into the 2022 season. Lincoln Riley left for USC, and the Sooners brought in Clemson defensive coordinator, Brent Venables, to guide the ship. Oklahoma’s top two quarterbacks entered the transfer portal along with numerous other players.
Even though there was a lot of change, the bookmakers still think the Sooners are a good bet to win the title at 25-1. While the Sooners lost a lot of talent, they were able to acquire a lot as well. They also hired two very talented coordinators in Jeff Lebby on the offensive side, and Ted Roof on the defensive side.
Even though we think the Sooners will be good, we don’t think they’ll live up to the hype. They have a date with the Texas Longhorns in the Red River Rivalry game that could lead to a loss. We also don’t think that they’ll make it through the rest of the Big 12 schedule unscathed. The Big 12 is down, but with all of the changes that are taking place in Norman, we think the Sooners will lose a game that they should win.
Don’t get too ambitious on betting on the Sooners to win it all. If you do, you could be making a big mistake.
Michigan Wolverines
Jim Harbuagh proved everyone wrong in 2021. Very few thought that the Wolverines could beat Ohio State and win the Big 10, but they did it anyways. They made it to the College Football Playoffs where they lost to the Georgia Bulldogs in the semifinals.
Michigan is back in 2022 and has some pretty good odds to win the National Championship at 30-1. Many feel that they can compete with Ohio State, and they can win the Big 10 again. However, we’re not a part of that group, and we think the Wolverines will lose at least two games this season.
Michigan lost a lot of key players from their stellar defensive unit from last season. Aidan Hutchinson and David Ojabo are the two biggest losses from that unit. Michigan also lost both coordinators to other big-time jobs. Harbaugh was promoted from within, so there shouldn’t be much schematic change on either side of the ball.
We’re still not sure who’s going to be under center for the Wolverines, so that is going to be an issue as well. Michigan will have some tough games in the Big 10, and we just can’t see them getting through it without some losses. Don’t spend too much money wagering on Harbaugh to win it all this season.
