NFL 2021 Preseason: Kansas City at Arizona Betting Analysis

If this were the regular season, we’d be talking about two of the top offenses in the NFL squaring off. However, this isn’t the regular season, so even though these two teams should have potent offenses, we’ll probably won’t see many of the top players in this one. What we will see is the Kansas City Chiefs traveling to Arizona to take on the Cardinals at State Farm Stadium on Friday night in Week 2 of NFL Preseason action. With the regular season getting closer and closer, we’re hoping to see each team’s starting units play some significant time.  With that being said, let’s have a look at both teams so you can bet against their NFL Preseason odds.

NFL Betting Preview for Chiefs vs Cardinals On Aug. 20th

Will We See the Stars?

In their first preseason game, Patrick Mahomes played one series with the first-team offense. If we see Mahomes, we’ll also get to see the rest of the first-team offense. As of now, Andy Reid plans on playing Mahomes this week and then sitting him and the rest of the first-team offense in Week 3. Here’s hoping that the Chiefs starters will see a lot of action.

As for the Cardinals, Kyler Murray, DeAndre Hopkins, and the rest of the Phoenix starting offense didn’t play in their preseason opener. It is expected the Murray and crew will see some action on Friday evening. We’re not sure how much action they’ll see, but it will be nice to see the starting offense on the field.

Offensive Firepower

We’re excited to see how the Kansas City Chiefs secondary will handle the firepower of the Arizona Cardinals. DeAndre Hopkins is one of the top receivers in the league. He will be joined by former All-Pro, AJ Green. If these two weren’t enough to scare the opposition’s secondary, they now have to contend with rookie Rondale Moore. The former Purdue Boilermaker has been impressive in camp and caught three of four passes thrown at him in the first preseason game.

Arizona has shown that they could have a stable of running backs this season. Incumbent Chase Edmonds and free agent-signee James Conner should see a bulk of the action. They didn’t play in the opener, but their replacements, Eno Benjamin and Chris Streveler, filled in admirably, gaining 105 yards on 15 carries.

When you think of the Chiefs, you think of offense. Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, Tyreek Hill, and Clyde Edwards-Helaire will lead the way again this season. The Chiefs are looking for a backup for Edward-Helaire. So far, it looks like Jerrick McKinnon could be that guy. We’ll see if another candidate steps up for the job.

Betting Information

Right now, the Kansas City Chiefs are 1.5-point favorites. The over/under has been set at 39. If the starters see a lot of action, we could see the point total going over the 39 points. It’s hard to predict the outcome of the game, as we don’t know how long the starting units will be in there. But if they all play nearly the same amount of time, we like the Chiefs to win this one and cover the spread.
