NFL 2021 Preseason: New York at Green Bay Betting Analysis

On Saturday, the New York Jets take on the Green Bay Packers in each teams’ second preseason match in a game where the Jets are favored because of who they’re likely to start. But the Packers may have no choice but to send 2020 NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers to the field. Will Rodgers and the Pack take down the Jets? Or will NYJ prove why many believe they can surprise this season? Check out NFL Preseason odds, analysis, and free picks for the Green Bay Packers versus the New York Jets.

NFL Betting Preview for Jets vs Packers On Aug. 21st

New York Jets vs Las Vegas Raiders – NFL Preseason Game

Why bet on New York Jets versus Green Bay

Zach Wilson threw well in his first NFL action. Wilson completed 6-of-9 for 67 yards and a 7.0 per yards completion average. He didn’t play more than a couple of series, though, which is why the Jets show up as the chalk to win this game. If Wilson play two-quarters, maybe, even three, NYJ should have no trouble covering the spread.

Why bet on Green Bay against New York Jets

Heading into this preseason game, Green Bay has an interesting situation. Matt LaFleur won’t play Jordan Love because Love has a slight injury. The Packers can’t take a chance with their future franchise quarterback, which means Aaron Rodgers could play more snaps than many believe. If he doesn’t, LaFleur will turn to third-string Kurt Benkert. But if Rodgers does surprise and plays an entire half or even three quarters, the Packers can win this on the moneyline.

Final Betting Analysis: New York Jets at Green Bay Packers

What Matt LaFleur with Green Bay does will determine which team covers the spread. The Packers are the more talented team, but Green Bay believes they can win a Super Bowl this season.

LaFleur is likely to give his starters, including WR Davante Adams and the healthy starters along the offensive line, a quarter at best. He’ll then give them a quarter next week versus the Bills before unleashing the entire Packers’ starting teams in Week 1.

The Jets must play Wilson as much as possible without putting him in harm’s way. Zach is NYJ’s starter this season but he’s also a rookie. The more in-game reps he can get the better.

Because Wilson should play at least three quarters in this game, the Jets get the nod against the spread. Expect NYJ to cover the -2 ½.
