This is a great time of year for fans of motor sports, with all the major organizations getting back to business. After a few weeks of speed trials, MotoGP returns to full action with the start of the 2024 season.
MotoGP Betting 2024 | MyBookie MotoGP Qatar Grand Prix
The opening race of the year is the Qatar Airways Grand Prix, which will be held over the course of the weekend. We are still waiting for the final race odds to be released but based on the odds to win the championship this season, we certainly have some idea as to which riders will likely be in the mix in Qatar. We are going to take a quick peek at those favorites to figure out who might well get the 2024 MotoGP season off to a winning start.
Francesco Bagnaia
You cannot talk about potential race favorites without talking about the two-time defending champion first. Over the course of those 2 winning seasons, Bagnaia has delivered 14 race wins, as well as countless podium finished outside of those checkered flags. He is in peak for right now and has the potential to dominate proceedings for several more years, so getting out to a winning start would certainly serve notice that he is not about to give up the title that easily. He has not won in Qatar over the past 3 seasons, but he did have a couple of podium finishes, so he should be in the mix.

Marc Marquez
You could argue that Marquez is among the favorites because of previous exploits as opposed to current form, but the truth is that the bookies don’t tend to go with their heart over their head when putting odds together. Marquez is a legend of the sport, winning 6 world championships in his career, but the past few seasons have been marred by injuries that have made it impossible for him to compete in too many races. In fact, you have to go back to 2021 to find the last time he won a race, but the fact that he is up among the favorites to win it all suggests that a return to health and form might be in the offing.

Jorge Martin
Last season, his 3rd with MotoGP, proved to be a breakout year for Martin. His first 2 years at this level saw him crack the top 10 but never really seriously challenge for the world championship. He changed that in 2023, finishing 2nd overall, winning 4 races in a very successful season. His goal now has to be to take the next step and win it all, but this is a track that has given him some problems over the past few seasons. 10th is his best finish in Qatar at this level, so playing him to win might be a risk.

Enea Bastianini
It has been a bit of a stop and start affair for Bastianini in his 3 years with MotoGP. He struggled somewhat in his first full season at this level, but he took a massive step forward in 2022 with a 3rd place overall finish. That progress was stifled last season with Bastianini forced to sit out of a bunch of races. He is back and ready to go, and the bookies seem to think that he will be in the championship mix. Bastianini picked up the win in Qatar in 2022, and a similar performance would see him become a real favorite to win it all.

2023 Grand Prix of Qatar: If you were hoping for an exciting finish to the 2023 Moto GP season, your wishes have certainly been answered.
When: Sunday, November 19 at 12:00 pm ET
Where: Losail Circuit
TV / Streaming: NBC & CNBC
With just 2 races remaining in the season, the gap between the top 2 riders is just 14 points, and while that means we are looking at a 2-horse race, it still makes for a very exiting finish to what has been a great season. For a while, it looked as though we were going to have a clear winner, but the second half of the season has turned things on its head, making for a championship battle that is likely going to go all the way down to the final race of the year. The first of the final 2 races comes this weekend in Qatar, so let’s take a look at a few of the riders who might make an impact in this one to consider in your MotoGP betting.
Francesco Bagnaia
As we mentioned at the top of this piece, it looked for a while as though Bagnaia might be ready to cruise to his second straight World Championship, but that is not now the case. It’s not that he has been poor coming down the stretch, it’s just that the wins have not been coming as frequently as they did in the early part of the season. He has just 1 win in his last 5 races, but he has also been on the podium in each of those, which is why he is still at the top, albeit by the very slimmest of margins. A win this weekend would make him very tough to catch, but he was forced to retire in Qatar last season and has not won there at this level.
Jorge Martin
If Martin does not go on to win the title, he may well look back at the first few weeks of the season with some regret. Through the opening 3 races of the year, he picked up points in just one of those outings, which could well be the difference between first and second overall. He has, though, managed 3 wins in his last 7 races, which has pulled him within reach of the top spot, but you do have to think that he needs a win in one of the final two races to have a real shot at winning it all. Qatar has not been good to him over the last 2 years, so he will need to find a way to conquer this track to stay in the hunt.
Marco Bezzecchi & Brad Binder
Given that we are looking at a 2-horse race for the World Championship, we are not going to focus too much on the guys sitting behind the top 2. Marco Bezzecchi has cooled off rather dramatically over the past few weeks, failing to land on the podium in 5 straight races. He does, though, have 3 wins this season, so this is a guy who has the ability to win the big races.
Binder has yet to win a race this season, but there is reason to believe that he might be a factor this weekend. He finished 2nd in Qatar last year, so perhaps he could be a factor in how things play out this weekend.
