Why Bet On Oakland at +3.5?

The Raiders managed to get past the L.A. Rams 14-3 in their preseason opener despite the fact that backup quarterback Mike Glennon tossed two interceptions and no touchdowns while third-stringer Nathan Peterman passed for 66 yards and one score with no picks. Oakland ran for an encouraging 149 yards in the win with Peterman racking up a team-high 56 yards on the ground and fourth-year running back DeAndre Washington adding one score on the ground. Peterman’s 50-yard run set up his only TD pass of the game.

“He can run,” Oakland coach Jon Gruden said. “As he continues to gain command of the offense he’s going to be an interesting guy to watch.”

Defensively, Nevin Lawson led the Raiders with six tackles while defensive lineman Arden Key had one sack and Alex Barrett had one tackle for loss.

Why Bet On Arizona at -3.5?

The Cardinals picked up an impressive 17-13 win over the Los Angeles Chargers in their first game under head coach Kliff Kingsbury and quarterback Kyler Murray. The top pick in this year’s draft and the reigning Heisman Trophy winner out of Oklahoma looked sharp by completing 6 of 7 passes for 44 yards in his only drive.

“I was just going out there and being myself, like always. Trusting in my abilities,” Murray said. “I wanted to score. I wanted to go back in. I was definitely itching for more.”Veteran backup Brett Hundley completed 10 of 14 passes for 104 yards with one TD pass and no interceptions while rookie running back Wes Hills rushed for 37 yards and once score on eight carries.  Defensively, Dennis Gardeck led the Cardinals with seven tackles, Andre Branch added one sack.

Expert Analysis and Prediction for Raiders vs Cardinals

The Raiders will be going all-out for another preseason win under head coach Jon Gruden who clearly takes the scrimmage season very seriously as his 34-17 career preseason record suggests. Unfortunately, the Raiders are just 1-6 ATS in their last 7 road games and 9-19-2 ATS in their last 30 games overall. While Arizona has gone an awful 1-4 ATS in their last 5 home games and 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games overall, the Cardinals are my pick to win and narrowly cover the chalk in this contest, seeing as how I’m expecting Kyler Murray to see just a bit more action than Oakland starter Derek Carr does in this Week 2 affair. Despite his glistening career preseason record, Oakland’s Jon Gruden is just 2-6 in eight Week 2 preseason games. I’m going with Murray to toss his first professional TD pass while Arizona holds on to get the win and narrow ATS cover!
