NCAAF 2021 Regular Season: Alabama vs Florida Betting Analysis & Prediction

Defending national champion Alabama begins its SEC schedule by traveling to The Swamp to play Florida in a rematch of last season’s league championship game that was won 52 – 46 by the Crimson Tide. So far in 2021, Alabama has picked up where they left off in their record-setting title season when they won 11 conference games on their way to an SEC title and a 13 – 0 overall record.

Florida has put up glitzy offensive numbers, but they’ve come against Conference USA’s Florida Atlantic in a 35 – 14 win and last week in a 42 – 20 victory over South Florida, which is last in the nation in total defense. The Gators are averaging a total of almost 610 yards a game and a whopping 381.5 on the ground.

In the SEC Championship game in 2020, Florida was one of only two teams to put up more than 24 points on the Crimson Tide, throwing for 408 yards in the contest but were never able to grab the lead at any time. The Gators were held to 54 yards rushing against a team that allowed an average of 113 yards per game for the season.

It’s time to take a closer look at both teams and how they arrive to this Alabama vs Florida matchup so you can bet against their NCAAF odds.

Alabama Betting Preview

The Crimson Tide humiliated a hopeful Miami Hurricane team 44- 13 in Atlanta to open the season and then took care of business against FCS Mercer, a team that shouldn’t even be on Alabama’s schedule, 48 – 14 in Week 2. The team lost its two most potent offensive weapons from 2020 to the NFL, but quarterback Bryce Young has stepped in, and Alabama doesn’t appear to have missed a beat.

Young is completing just over 70% of his pass attempts and has thrown for seven touchdowns without an interception. Defensively, they’re holding teams to 241 total yards a game and just 68 on the ground, although the sample size is small and includes that contest against an FCS team.

Florida Betting Preview

It’s hard to evaluate the Gators since their opening two games were against far inferior competition, although both teams play in FBS conferences. South Florida was humiliated in Week 1 by the score of 45 – 0 by NC State, who then went on to get waxed by Mississippi State 24 -10 in a game that really wasn’t as close as the score might indicate.

On the defensive side of the ball, Florida has played well, giving up an average of 325 yards a game, but once again, it needs to be noted that it has been against non-Power Five competition. The last time these two teams met, Alabama scorched the Gator defense for over 600 yards in total offense, including 187 in the running game.

Alabama vs Florida Game Prediction

Florida came as close as any team to hanging a defeat on Alabama in 2020. It’s safe to say that Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban has had this game on his mind since the end of last season and although his coaching staff is new, they have been reminded all week about how dangerous Florida is on offense.

Alabama will find a way to stuff Florida again on the ground and make the Gators throw the ball. Unlike last December, it won’t work out as well for Florida.

Pick: Alabama 40 Florida 24
