When the Jacksonville Jaguars brought Urban Meyer in to lead their team, many thought that he would be able to fix the broken franchise, much like he did with the college programs that he took over. If Week 1 of the season is any indication of how things are going to go, Meyer and the Jaguars have a lot of work ahead of them.
After losing to a team that many thought would be the worst team in the league in the Houston Texans, the Jaguars need to get things right quickly.
The Denver Broncos had a good start to their season, as they defeated the New York Giants in their season opener. Denver looked good in their 27-13 win. They’ll take to the road for the second week in a row, as they’ll head to Jacksonville to take on the Jaguars. With that in mind, check out our NFL Betting preview for Broncos vs Jaguars matchup so you can bet against their NFL odds.
NFL Betting Preview for Denver Broncos at Jacksonville
Jacksonville Jaguars Analysis
Things aren’t going so well in Jacksonville. Not only did they get beat by Houston last weekend, but there are a lot of grumblings coming out of the Jaguars’ camp. Many of the players aren’t happy with the way they’re being treated by Meyer.
It’s even been reported that members of Meyer’s staff also feel like they’re being mistreated as well. If things don’t get better soon, ownership could have a real issue on their hands.
Trevor Lawrence was so-so in his debut. He threw for 332 yards and three touchdowns, but he also threw three interceptions. Jacksonville’s offensive line has a lot of issues, and their defense doesn’t look like it has improved much since last season.
Lawrence and his offense will need to get better, but unfortunately for them, they’ll be running into one of the league’s top defenses on Sunday.
Denver Broncos Analysis
Teddy Bridgewater edged out Drew Lock for the starting quarterback position coming out of training camp. Bridgewater played well against the Giants, going 28-36 for 264 yards and two touchdowns. Melvin Gordon had 101 yards with a touchdown on 11 carries.
Jerry Jeudy led the Broncos receivers, but he left the game with an ankle injury and will miss a significant amount of time.
Led by Von Miller, along with one of the best secondaries in the NFL, the Denver defense will be a force to be reckoned with this season. Vic Fangio has been one of the top defensive minds in the league over his career, and he has a lot of weapons at his disposal.
If Denver’s defense plays as it did in Week 1, holding Saquon Barkley to just 26 yards rushing, they’ll give the offenses in the league fits.
Prediction
Denver is a six-point road favorite. The Broncos are 8-3 against the spread in their last 11 games against a team with a losing record. We’re not going to dive too deep into the numbers on this one. Denver is flat-out the better team and should win this one by at least 10 points. Their defense will prove to be too much for the Jaguars.
Trevor Lawrence better be ready to get out of the pocket, as the Denver pass rush will be spending a lot of time in the Jacksonville backfield on Sunday.
