Following its Round 1 opening slate of matches that saw Scotland beat England in its annual Calcutta Cup clash, it’s time for some expert rugby betting predictions on Round 2 of the 2021 Guinness Six Nations season. That said, let’s get to the action so you can bet against their Rugby odds.
2021 Six Nations Week 2 Odds and Predictions | Rugby Betting
England and Italy will both look to bounce back from Round 1 losses in the Round 2 opener on Saturday. Scotland takes on Wales in a pairing that looks like a knock-down, drag-out brawl for it all. Last, but not least, France battles Ireland in the final matchup on the Round 2 schedule.
Round Two – England Vs Italy
- When: Saturday, Feb. 13, 2021 at 2.15 PM (UK Time)
- Where: Twickenham, ITV
- Rugby Odds: Italy +35.5 / England -35.5
England kicked off its season with a good effort but came up just short in its low-scoring 11-6 Calcutta Cup loss against Scotland on Saturday. Now, Eddie Jones has recalled George Ford at fly-half in one of five changes to his side as England looks to rebound against Italy on Saturday. Ford was left on the bench for last weekend’s defeat by Scotland, an occasion that marked the first time he had been dropped since the 2019 World Cup quarterfinals. With Ford back in the lineup, Ollie Lawrence will sit.
“As always, we’ve picked what we think is our strongest 23 to try and win the game. We’re pleased to have Mako and Kyle back into the team and we’ve made some changes to our starting XV, but our finishers are just as important to our game plan,” Jones said.
“We look at the whole 80 minutes. We’ve trained very well this week, I’ve been very pleased with the players’ attitudes and work-rate. We’re hoping to put on a good performance on Saturday and kick on with our Six Nations campaign,” Jones added.
Italy was on the wrong end of an embarrassing 50-10 blowout loss against France in its opener. Italy has never beaten England and have dropped a mind-boggling 28 consecutive Six Nations matches, last winning in round three of the 2015 tournament by beating Scotland. Italy have called up Pierre Bruno and Andrea Lovotti for the upcoming Six Nations clash against England after Marco Zanon was ruled out due to injury.
Prediction: England didn’t look very good with their offensive attack last weekend, but the red and Whites won’t get upset by a still, awful Italy squad. Still, I think the 35.5-point spread is a bit too much for England to cove after seeing their lackluster effort in their opener. England wins, but Italy covers the huge spread.
Pick: England 36 Italy 16
Round Two – Scotland Vs Wales
- When: Saturday, Feb. 13, 2021 at 4.45 PM (UK Time)
- Where: BT Murrayfield, BBC and S4C
- Rugby Odds: Wales +4.5 / Scotland -4.5
- Money Lines: Wales +172 / Scotland -250
- Total: 38.5
Scotland dominated England to earn their first Calcutta Cup victory at Twickenham in 38 years. Still, Scotland is set to make three changes for this weeknd’s matchup against Wales. Cameron Redpath, Jamie Ritchie and Sean Maitland are all out with injuries, opening the door for Blade Thomson, James Lang and Darcy Graham all start for Scotland at Murrayfield on Saturday.
“We have an opportunity this weekend against Wales to continue the positive start to the Guinness Six Nations we made last week against England,” Scotland boss Gregor Townsend said. “It was a very encouraging performance at Twickenham and the squad performed to a level which has to be the benchmark throughout the tournament.
Wales got past Ireland 21-16 in its opener but have made five changes for their trip to Scotland on Saturday in the Six Nations.
George North and Louis Rees-Zammit scored second half tries as Wales overcame a poor start to defeat 14-man Ireland 21-16 in their opening Six Nations clash at the Principality Stadium on Sunday
Now, Aaron Wainright, Gareth Davies, Liam Williams, Nick Tompkins and Owen Watkin all start as Wales battles mounting injuries. Willis Halaholo is included on the bench and will make his Test debut if given the chance. Josh Macleod was in line to make his debut at blindside for the injured Dan Lydiate, but he too was ruled out through an injury he picked up in training.
“The most disappointing is young Josh Macleod, who missed the autumn, was named [in the team on Wednesday] in front of his peers, only to be stretchered off in training half an hour later. He ruptured his Achilles tendon,” Wales coach Wayne Pivac said.
Prediction: Scotland won last year’s Six Nations clash to snap a three-game losing streak and I like the Scots to make it two in a row in a matchup that looks like a street brawl just waiting to happen!
Pick: Scotland 18 Wales 13
Round Two – Ireland Vs France
- When: Sunday, Feb. 14, 2021 at 3:00 PM (UK Time)
- Where: Aviva Stadium, Dublin, ITV
- Rugby Odds: France -3.5 / Ireland +3.5
- Money Lines: France -208 / Ireland +141
Ireland came up short against Wales in its opener 21-16 as George North and Louis Rees-Zammit scored second half tries to lead Wales to the win. Ireland’s lone try cam from back rower Tadhg Beirne. France throttled overmatched Italy 50-10 to easily win its opener. France won last year’s meeting 35-27 to snap a three-game skid against Ireland.
After watching both teams in their respective openers last weekend, I don’t think this one is going to be as close as the score indicates. France is 6-5-2 in the last 13 meetings and I believe they’ll win again on Sunday.
Pick: France 26 Ireland 18
