Can You Beat the Bookies? NRL Round 17 Betting Preview & Top Odds

As the season progresses in the NRL, you would expect some level of separation at the top of the ladder, but things appear to be getting tighter with each passing week.

The top 3 teams are in good shape, but there is also just 8 points separating the top team from the team down in 8th, which is the cut line for the postseason.

My Analysis for Round 17 top games

Things are even tighter down by the cut line, with 6 teams all within 4 points of the last playoff spot.

With that in mind, it’s clear that every single game is important at this stage, as a win could well vault a team a few spots up the ladder.

Week 17 has some big games to choose from, but we have narrowed it down to 4, so let’s take a look at the betting lines provided by MyBookie Sportsbook.

Bulldogs +155 vs Sharks -189

There is a possibility that we could see the top 3 teams start to open up a bit of a lead on the rest of the pack, but the Bulldogs will be looking to make sure that doesn’t happen.

They are down in the #6 spot at the moment, 6 points back so their opponent this week, who are sitting in 3rd. The Bulldogs have won 3 of their last 4 games and are in good form, but perhaps more importantly, they are a perfect 6-0 in home games this season.

The Sharks are heading in the wrong direction, winning just once in their last 4. They have been good away from home, going 5-2.

Storm -667 vs Raiders +407

The Storm come into Week 17 sitting at the top of the ladder, taking 26 points from 14 games. The Storm have taken 3 of their last 4 games and have been very tough to beat at home, winning 7 of 8 this season.

All of that makes this a very tough trip for the Raiders, who are trying to make their way above the cut line. They are sitting down in 10th place at the moment and are heading in the wrong direction with just 1 win in their last 4 games. The Raiders are 3-4 on the road.

Dragons -118 vs Dolphins -105

Depending on how this one goes, we could see a rather dramatic shift in the standings, The Dolphins, who are in 5th, are 4 spots ahead of the Dragons, but they are also separated by a mere 2 points.

The Dolphins would love to get a little more separation, but they are not in great form right now, winning just once in their last 4. On the positive side of things, they are 5-2 in road games.

A win here could put the Dragons back into the top 8. They are 2-2 in their last 4 and 4-2 at home.

Panthers -385 vs Cowboys +276

This is another great matchup, with both of these teams sitting in the top 8, for now at least. The Panthers are sitting in 2nd, just 2 points out of the lead, so they may need a win here to keep pace with the Sharks, or potentially move into first place.

They have won 3 of their last 4 games and are an impressive 5-1 at home. The Cowboys are holding onto the final playoff spot down in 8th place and are in good form with 3 wins in their last 4. They are 5-4 in road games this season.
