Are the -600 odds on Bayern to win their tenth straight Bundesliga title fair or unfair?

The transfer window doesn’t officially close until Aug. 31. A lot could happen from now until then, which is why at -600, Bayern Munich fans should hold off on backing Robert Lewandowski’s current club to make it ten titles in a row.

The issue? Bayern almost assuredly wants to grab Dortmund star Erling Haaland after next season. By transferring Lewandowski now, Bayern could pocket 50 million euros, or maybe more, that they could use for Haaland once Dortmund gives the green light.

Yes, that would damage Bayern’s chances of winning the Bundesliga title this season. Leipzig, Dortmund, Monchengladbach and Leverkusen are decent teams.

But Robert Lewandowski is now 32-years-old. Bayern also has new management and a new head coach in Julian Nagelsmann. If Munich believes they will secure Haaland’s services before Real Madrid, Manchester City, Liverpool, or Chelsea, they most definitely may consider transferring Lewandowski before the window closes.

So, yes, right now, Bayern looks like a lock. But a lot can happen from now until Aug. 31. So don’t back Munich unless your sure they keep the great Lewandowski.

Assess Dortmund’s chances of upsetting mighty Bayern and winning the Bundesliga this season?

At +700, Dortmund is a decent play to win the 2021-2022. Right now, there’s a greater chance of Dortmund keeping Haaland then of Bayern sticking with Lewandowski.

If Bayern transfers Lewandowski, Chelsea is a possibility, Dortmund becomes a +300 co-choice with Munich even though they lost Jadon Sancho to Manchester United.

Does Leipzig show underlay or overlay odds?

RB Leipzig has never won a Bundesliga title. The most hated team in the German League, Leipzig skirted the rules to get Red Bull on board, hence the initials RB.

The best RBL has finished is second. Leipzig finished second in the 2016-2017 Bundesliga season. They finished second again last season.

So, here’s the thing. If Lewandowski transfers out of the Bundesliga and to La Liga or the EPL, Leipzig would be in line for a title. Last season, RBL finished ahead of Dortmund, Wolfsburg, Gladbach, Leverkusen, and Frankfurt.

Which team is worth a longer look to win the Bundesliga, Leverkusen, Wolfsburg, or Monchengladbach?

Among these three, you can pretty much throw a dart. If we had to pick a side to back, we’d go with Wolfsburg.

Wolfsburg finished fourth behind Bayern, Leipzig, and Dortmund, which means they get to play in the Champions League Group Stage this upcoming season. That should fire up Wolfsburg and their home crowd. The +8000 odds don’t exactly make Wolfsburg on overlay. But at the odds, you are getting some value.

Also, how much do you usually place onto an 80-to-1 shot?

Is there an underdog that can take the 2021 – 2022 Bundesliga title?

Not really, but if we had to pick, we’d go with Frankfurt. The +20000 choice finished high enough on the Bundesliga Standings to secure a spot in this season’s Europa League Group Stage.

Frankfurt is good enough to win the Europa League. Also, the underdog beat Wolfsburg, Leverkusen, Monchengladbach, Leipzig, Dortmund and Bayern last season. If Lewandowski leaves Munich, Frankfurt could get it done because we don’t know how effective Haaland will be without Sancho.

A lot must happen. But everything that must happen for Frankfurt to win could happen. So consider the +20000 choice a live longshot.
