UCL Round of 16 Second Leg: Barca Looks to Turn the Tables Versus PSG

UEFA Champions League Round of 16

  • When: Tuesday, March 9 – Wednesday, March 10

Tuesday, March 9th Matches

  • Sevilla +225 / Dortmund +102

As of March 3, Dortmund is in excellent form. The Bundesliga squad has won 4 straight. But on Sunday, they must battle rival Bayern. If Bayern dominates, Dortmund could suffer a soccer hangover in this Tuesday match.

Heading into the weekend, La Liga squad Sevilla is desperate for a victory. Barcelona beat Sevilla 2-0 on Feb. 27. On March 3, Barca put a 3-0 beating onto their rivals. Sevilla battles Elche on Saturday. That could help them right the ship. Also, Dortmund required 3 goals to beat Sevilla 3-2 in the first leg. The La Liga team has a chance.

Champions League Pick: Sevilla

  • Porto +1 ½ (-172) / Juventus -1 ½ (+129)

Porto upset Juventus 2-1 in the first leg, which begs the question, why is Juvy giving up 1 ½ goals in this? It’s tough to lay 1 ½ on Juventus. What helps is the fact we must risk -172 on Porto.

It also helps that Juventus beat Spezia 3-0 on March 2 and that they battle Porto at home. Juventus takes on tough Lazio at home on March 6. If they play well in that, there’s a chance they make a statement versus Porto on Tuesday.

Champions League Pick: Juventus

Wednesday, March 10th Matches

  • Barcelona +175 / Paris Saint-Germain +117

PSG thoroughly embarrassed Barcelona 4-1 in the first leg. It wouldn’t have been as bad if Barca didn’t lay the rotten egg on their own pitch. Since Paris Saint-Germain is at home in the second leg, they figure to dominate Barcelona again.

But Barca has turned around their form. Messi and his mates have won 3 in a row, beating Elche and Sevilla twice by a combined 8-0 score. PSG has 3 goals to work with here. Don’t expect Saint-Germain to be as aggressive with Mbappe as they were in the first leg.

Barcelona can win the match but lose in the aggregate. We’re just playing them to win the match.

Champions League Pick: Barcelona

  • RB Leipzig +218 / Liverpool +108

It’s so difficult to back Liverpool. Even though they dominated Leipzig 2-0 in the first match, Pool’s overall form doesn’t inspire.

Everton beat the Reds 2-0 on Feb. 20 and Chelsea beat Liverpool 1-0 on March 4. Pool’s next match is versus Fulham on Sunday. Even if Liverpool dominates Fulham, we must go with Leipzig. The Reds figure to play defense and protect the 2 goal aggregate lead. RB has a shot to beat Pool 1-0 and still lose on the aggregate. That’s the way we’re playing it.

Champions League Pick: RB Leipzig
