Last season, the English Premier League title race was over before it even really began, with Manchester City assuming the driver’s seat from the start and going pole to pole. This season is proving to be a whole lot tighter, although, with just 11 games left in the season, it certainly looks as though it is going to come down to a two-horse race, with the chasing pack left to battle it out for the top 4 and those coveted Champions League spots.
It is that latter race that is turning out to be especially interesting, especially now that Manchester United once again look like a force to be reckoned with. It’s incredibly tight there, with 3 teams battling it out for the 4th and final spot. Tottenham looks to be safe in 3rd, but they could be dragged down into the fight if they slip up against their London rivals Chelsea on Wednesday afternoon. These meetings are always a lot of fun to watch, and it is Chelsea who is favored by ½, with the O/U set at 2 ½. It’s all to play for in a massive London derby, but who will come out on top.

Why bet on Chelsea?
Things do not look very good at Stamford Bridge right now, as Chelsea are sinking like a stone as the players seem to have switched the new manager off. The perfect example of that came at the weekend when Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa refused to leave the pitch after being subbed out prior to the penalty shootout against Manchester City in the EFL Cup Final. Some thought that the firing of manager Sarri would soon follow, but he is still in place for now.
Chelsea ultimately lost that game and have now lost 4 of their last 5, conceding goals at an awful pace, including 6 versus City and 4 to Bournemouth in league play. That run has seen Chelsea fall all the way down to 6th, although their record at home is still solid, with just 1 loss at 8-4-1. They have scored 26 and conceded just 9 at home.
Expected Line-up
- 1-Kepa
- 30-David Luiz
- 28-Azpilicueta
- 33-Emerson
- 2-A. Rüdiger
- 8-R. Barkley
- 5-Jorginho
- 7-N. Kanté
- 22-Willian
- 10-E. Hazard
- 11-Pedro
Why bet on Tottenham?
Tottenham was still very much in the title race up until the weekend, but a 2-1 loss to Burnley may very well have killed their championship bid. They are now 6 points off the top spot, but given that Liverpool and City have not made a habit of dropping points this season, their chances of closing that gap in such a short space of time seem somewhat slim.
The good news for Tottenham is that they have Harry Kane back from injury, and it was he who came off the bench last weekend to get that lone goal versus Burnley. Expect him to be in the starting line-up for this one. Tottenham actually has the best away record in the league amassing 33 points via an 11-0-3 record that saw them score 31 and concede 15.
Expected Line-up
- 1-H. Lloris
- 5-J. Vertonghen
- 3-D. Rose
- 4-T. Alderweireld
- 24-S. Aurier
- 21-J. Foyth
- 17-M. Sissoko
- 23-C. Eriksen
- 8-H. Winks
- 7-Son Heung-Min
- 10-H. Kane

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction for Chelsea vs Tottenham
In Premier League play, Tottenham has won both previous meetings with Chelsea by a 3-1 final score. Given how things are going with Chelsea right now, I would not be surprised to see more of the same. The over is the best bet for me here.
Score: Chelsea 1 – Tottenham 3
