English Premier League Week 3 Winning Predictions

English Premier League Week 3 Winning Predictions

Written by on August 25, 2016

Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea and the surprising Hull City team are the four teams that have gotten off to a perfect start in the English Premier League through the first two games. It’s too early to start jumping into conclusions about who looks strongest to win the title this season, especially after Leicester City pulled the biggest-ever surprise in EPL history by winning the title last season. But from the early look of things in the soccer odds, the two Manchester teams and Chelsea should be keenly considered in the race, with Hull City most likely to cool off sooner rather than later as teams settle into the new season. We will, however, be talking about the title in another forum. For now, let’s focus our attention on the upcoming weekend of Premier League football. Here is a look at Week 3 schedule, complete with free online betting picks and predictions.

Tottenham vs. Liverpool

Following their win over Arsenal, the Reds suffered a shock loss at Burnley last week and will be hoping to get back to winning ways this weekend. The Spurs, meanwhile, drew at Everton in Week 1, but followed it with a narrow win over Crystal Palace last weekend. Tottenham has somewhat struggled in front of goal, but they could be in for luck against Liverpool’s shaky defense that gave up 3 goals at Arsenal and 2 against Burnley’s iffy offense. Getting a win will, however, be another thing altogether for the Spurs, as Liverpool boasts of an extremely efficient offense, with newboy Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino causing all kinds of havoc and Daniel Sturridge showing that he still got it after he bagged 2 goals in Liverpool’s 5-0 mid-week rout over Burton Albion. Game Prediction: Tottenham 2, Liverpool 3

Everton vs. Stoke City

Everton followed up their 1-1 draw with Tottenham with a 2-1 victory over West Brom 2-1 last week, and Ronald Koeman’s boys look to be in a favorable position to keep their decent start to the season with a win over Stoke City. The Potters have struggled so far, following their lucky season-opening draw with a humiliating 4-1 home loss to Manchester City last week. With Everton’s Goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg playing well since the start of the season and Stoke City’s offense struggling in front of the goal, a clean sheet could easily be in the books for the hosts. Meanwhile, the forward lineup of Yannick Bolasie, Romelu Lukaku and Aaron Lennon should be capable of taking their chances against the Potters’ surprisingly leaky defense that has allowed 5 goals in the two games so far. Game Prediction: Everton 1, Stoke City 0.

Hull vs. Manchester United

In a game between two teams with 100% winning records in the Premier League, Hull and United will certainly make for some great viewing. The Tigers have scored four goals and conceded just one, and are off to a bright start since returning to the top flight—including a 2-1 win over reigning EPL champs Leicester—so you can be assured that they won’t be pushovers in this game. Even so, Manchester United is an entirely different team right now, with Paul Pogba and Zlatan Ibrahimovic (EPL’s tied top-scorer with Man City’s Sergio Aguero at 3 goals) offering a new lease of life for United’s offense under new coach Jose Mourinho, while David DeGea and his stingy defense take care of things defensively. So, even with Hull City playing to its strengths, this game is likely to offer a big mismatch for the hosts, with United almost definitely coming out on top when all is said and done. Game Prediction: Hull City 0, Manchester United 3.

Manchester City vs. West Ham

The goalkeeping issues in Man City are still on-going, with Willy Caballero, Joe Hart and imminent Barca transfer Claudio Bravo making a case for the No. 1 starting role in this game. These goalkeeping concerns have, however, not had much of an effect on the Citizens, who lead the league with the highest number of goals scored in the EPL (at 6) and a plus-4 goal difference after two games. A big reason for their success so far is the efficiency of City’s offense, led by the lethal Aguero, new-signing Diego Nolito and England’s darling Raheem Sterling. With that, it almost looks given that Man City will be continuing its splendid start with a win over West Ham. That, however, may be easier said than done, as West Ham is loaded with great players and was one of the few teams to beat Man City last season. But then again, with West Ham’s offense lacking in sufficient talent after their record-signing Andre Ayew suffered a serious thigh injury in Week 1, it doesn’t look like City will be losing this game. Game Prediction: Manchester City 3, West Ham 0.
