Top English Premier League Week 4 Betting Winning Predictions

Written by on September 2, 2016

The record-shattering $1 billion English Premier League transfer window is in the books and the focus now turns to the real action where the new signings and the veterans will be taking to the field in what promises to be an exciting season. Entering Week 4, the trio of Manchester United, Chelsea and Manchester City are tied atop the league with a maximum 9 points from the first three weeks, with the Citizens owning a superior goal difference (plus-6) compared to the Blues and Red Devils that are tied at a similar goal difference (plus-5). But come the end of Week 4, at least one of these teams is guaranteed to have a tainted record, given Man United and Man City are set to face each other right after the international break in a highly-anticipated Manchester Derby. Here is an early look at what to expect from the Manchester Derby, along with other free EPL Week 4 soccer betting predictions and picks.

Saturday, Sept. 10

Manchester City vs. Manchester United, 7:30 AM ET

Whether or not Sergio Aguero will be suspended by the FA, City’s offense should still be lethal enough to give a strong show against United, with the likes of Raheem Sterling, Diego Nolito and Kelechi Iheanacho offering the needed spark in the offense. That said, don’t expect a high-scoring effort from the Citizens, as the David DeGea-led Manchester United defense has conceded just one goal in three matches while keeping two clean sheets in the process. On the opposite side, Zlatan Ibrahimovic should lead a highly-motivated Red Devils offense, as the hosts look to take advantage of City’s rebuilding defense that has conceded a goal in each of its three EPL games this season and is hoping to find a new savior in former Barca goalkeeper Claudio Bravo, who will most likely get his first start in this game. Prediction: City uses its superior offense to eke out a 2-1 win over United. Recommended Pick: UNDER 3.5 Goals

Tottenham Hotspur vs. Stoke City, 10:00 AM ET

The Spurs are one of the biggest winners of the transfer window, having acquired a number of elite players, including highly-coveted deadline-day signing Moussa Sissoko. But even with those signings, the Spurs will have their work cut out for them at the Britannia Stadium, where Stoke City has not lost to Tottenham since the start of the 2014 season. Not to mention, Stoke City will be getting a much-needed offensive boost from their Manchester City loanee Wilfried Bony, who will be linking up with the likes of Marko Arnautovic, Borjan Krkic and Xerdan Shaqiri upfront. Still, with Tottenham having sharpshooters of its own in Harry Kane and Dele Ali, and Stoke City struggling mightily in defense (6 goals conceded); the visitors could easily end their struggles at Stoke City with a win here. Prediction: Stoke fights for a hard-earned 1-1 draw against Tottenham. Pick: UNDER 2.5 Goals.

Arsenal vs. Southampton, 10:00 AM ET

Arsenal finally claimed their first win of the season, and did so in dominant fashion, beating Watford 3-1 in Week 3. Meanwhile, Southampton continued with its struggles, drawing 1-1 to Sunderland FC. With just two goals scored and four conceded, it is clear that Southampton really needs an overhaul tactics on both sides of the ball if it is to win this game. Meanwhile, Arsenal (6 goals scored, 5 conceded) just needs to get things in order defensively. And fortunately, the injury-bugged Arsenal defense will be getting a new lease of life in prized signing Shkodran Mustafi, who completed his £35-million move from Valencia on Tuesday. Throw in the additional fact that Arsenal often plays strongly at home, I’d be surprised if this game ends with anything else other than an Arsenal victory. Prediction: Arsenal keeps its first clean sheet of the season, as it cruises to a 2-0 win over Southampton Recommended Pick: Arsenal Win

Leicester City at Liverpool FC, 12:30 PM ET

Leicester City beat Liverpool 2-0 at Anfield last season and Coach Jurgen Klopp will be hoping for a different result when his team hosts the Foxes in this enticing encounter. Offensively, the Reds should be okay, as Sadio Mane, Divock Origi, Phillippe Coutinho and Daniel Sturridge have sufficient creativity and firepower to open up Leicester’s defense. The problem, though, is that Liverpool has been very vulnerable at the back, conceding a league-high 6 goals in their three EPL games so far. With the likes of Riyad Mahrez, Jamie Vardy and Leicester City’s record-signing Islam Slimani (who scored 48 goals in 82 league appearances for Sporting Lisbon over the past two seasons) on the opposite end of the field, you can’t help but feel that the Reds will be in for a long day. Prediction: Leicester City beats Liverpool 3-2 in a thrilling back-and-forth encounter. Recommended Pick: OVER 3.5 Goals

Sunday, Sept. 11

Chelsea FC at Swansea City, 11:00 AM ET

Chelsea has dominated this series with a 6-3-1 head-to-head advantage in the last 10 overall games vs. Swansea City and there’s very little to believe that things will be different here. Chelsea is 3-for-3 in its first three games, with Eden Harzard and Diego Costa leading a rejuvenated Blues’ team under new manager Antonio Conte. Swansea, meanwhile, has posted two straight losses since recording the 1-0 road win at Burnley at the start of the season, with the Swans’ offense particularly struggling to find goals. With that considered, Chelsea should be due for a rather easy win here. Prediction: Chelsea records its fourth-straight win of the season, and doing so in an emphatic 4-0 fashion Pick: Chelsea -1.5 Goals Handicap
