French Ligue 1 Rumors: Is Mbappe Bolting from Paris Saint-Germain?

2021 – 2022 French Ligue 1 Season

  • When: Aug. 7, 2021 – May 21, 2022

Liverpool and Real Madrid are at the top of Kylian Mbappe’s list

Paris Saint-Germain’s top player, Kylian Mbappe, could be on his way out. Mbappe has one-year remaining on his contract with PSG.

He had great success this season, 42 goals and 11 assists in 47 games, but Paris didn’t win the Ligue 1 title. Paris Saint-Germain also bowed out of the Champions League before the final match.

The two teams that could make a deal for Mbappe are Liverpool and Real Madrid. As always, the LaLiga power has the upper hand.

Mbappe spoke glowingly of RM’s organization.  Real plans on shipping Eden Hazard and Gareth Bale. If they do, Real will have enough in the tank to make a play for Mbappe.

Man City, Chelsea and Sevilla in running to sign Lens’ backer Jonathan Clauss

Lens’ right-backer Jonathan Clauss has become a hot commodity. Not only are the Sky Blues interested in signing him but so are Chelsea and Sevilla.

Man City’s interest stems from Pep Guardiola’s process. Yes, City easily won the English Premier League. Sure, the Sky Blues should beat rival Chelsea in the Champions League Final on May 29.

But Pep is never satisfied. As Guardiola has said himself, Man City is always looking to improve.

Thomas Tuchel at Chelsea knows to compete with City in next season’s Premier, the Blues must also improve. Chelsea has become one of the better club teams in European soccer. To maintain that position, they can’t rest on their laurels.

Sevilla’s interest in Clauss stems from their hope to contend with Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Atletico Madrid. Sevilla finished 9 points behind Atletico this season.

Ligue 1 champion Lille looking for a new manager

Christophe Galtier did one of the most amazing jobs in soccer club history. Four years ago, Lille was one of the worst teams in French Ligue 1.

This past weekend, Galtier led Lille to the Ligue 1 title. The preseason underdog beat Paris Saint-Germain by a single point.

But although Lille’s fans continue to relish in their victory, Galtier has moved on. The Lille manager resigned a couple of days after leading Lille to the title.

We don’t know for sure why Galtier left. Rumor has it, Nice has offered him a king’s ransom. If not Nice, there are plenty of other opportunities available, including a position at Real Madrid since Zinedine Zidane also called it quits.

Eighteen-year-old PSG player Ruiz-Atil could be on the move to Barcelona

One of Paris Saint-Germain’s top young players, eighteen-years-old Kays Ruiz-Atil, said he was leaving PSG after his contract expires in June.

Ruiz-Atil may head back to Barcelona. The youngster spent six years at Barca’s famous La Masia academy. Playing for Barcelona could be his dream. Don’t expect Ruiz-Atil to end up anywhere except Camp Nou.

Neymar’s hopes of playing with Ronaldo may not be a pipe dream

Neymar said the one player he dreams of stepping onto the pitch with is Ronaldo. The Brazilian star may get his wish.

Juventus manager Andrea Pirlo didn’t play Ronaldo in Juvy’s final Serie A match versus Bologna. The reason why such a move was significant is because Juventus required a big victory against Bologna to secure a spot in next season’s Champions League.

Not playing Ronaldo worked. Pirlo’s squad got the win, Napoli drew with Verona, and Juventus secured Serie A’s fourth and final UCL spot.

Ronaldo’s and Juventus’ relationship could end in a matter of weeks. If Mbappe bolts to Real, a, pardon the expression real possibility, who knows? Paris Saint-Germain could decide to make a play for Ronaldo.

Keep an eye on the Ronaldo to PSG possibility as well as everything else that could happen in French Ligue 1 before the new season starts.
