Betting MLS Matchday 25 of the Season

Winning on the road is a challenge in any sport.

Teams find a certain comfort level while playing in a more familiar environment.

That isn’t something unique to the MLS.

But the most successful teams in any sport typically find a way to win away from home.

By winning games on the road, it increases the odds of getting better seeding for the playoffs or to make sure the postseason is an option at all.

Considering going on the road, here are some interesting MLS games to watch this week.

Writer’s MLS Picks for the Matchday 25 Games

New England Revolution vs Orlando City SC | Orlando Wants to Maintain Good Form

Orlando City is hanging onto a top-seven spot in the Eastern Conference right now, but would prefer to inch higher if possible.

The Lions will have a good opportunity to steal points on the road when it takes on the New England Revolution.

Orlando has picked up consecutive wins over Toronto and D.C. United, where it scored two or more goals.

The Lions’s win over D.C. on July 6th was a 5-0 destruction where the Lions controlled the ball for 62 percent of a lopsided victory.

Orlando has produced an xG of 2.0 or higher in three of its past six matches.

Duncan McGuire has led the Orlando attack with a team-high seven goals.

Facundo Torres has scored six times for the Lions.

New England has been in a bit of a slump over the past few weeks. The Revolution lost two of their past three matches.

The Revolution’s defense has slumped, allowing two or more goals in three of the past five matches.

Orlando is +170 on the three-way moneyline to win this match.

New England is +143 to win in regulation, while the match is +260 to end in a draw.

The over/under has been set at 2.5 goals.

Back the Lions to win this one on the road.

D.C. United vs Nashville SC | Upset of the Week: Nashville SC

Nashville SC has hit a rough patch in the schedule.

Over the past three matches, Nashville has struggled to generate much of anything.

Nashville only has two goals in its past three matches and controlled the ball for less than 50 percent of the last two.

D.C. United hasn’t picked up a win since it beat Atlanta 3-2 on May 11.

D.C. is on a 12-match winless streak.

During D.C’s last four matches, D.C. has allowed its opponent to score three or more goals three times.

D.C. United is -107 on the three-way moneyline.

Nashville is +265 to win in regulation, while the match is +265 to end in a draw.

The over/under has been set at 2.5 goals.

Back Nashville to pick up a win in this match.

Neither team is playing well right now, but this is a spot to buy low on Nashville.

Toronto FC vs Philadelphia Union | Toronto Should Stop Philadelphia

The Philadelphia Union have had a difficult time this season.

Only two years since they challenged for the MLS Cup, Philadelphia has plunged to 14th place in the MLS standings.

The Union will attempt to go on the road and steal some points from a plucky Toronto side.

Toronto is just holding onto a spot in the top 10 in the Eastern Conference.

Toronto remaining in the top 10 is surprising because of how Toronto is on a nine-match winless streak.

Tronto has picked up a win since it beat Montreal 5-1 on May 18.

During Toronto’s last match against the Columbus Crew, it only generated an xG of .4.

Philadelphia also hasn’t won a match since May. The Union have lost five of their last six matches.

Philadelphia has struggled to stop its opponents’ attacks.

Toronto is +102 on the three-way moneyline.

Philadelphia is +225 to win in regulation, while the match is +280 to end in a draw.

The over/under has been set at 2.5 goals. Both teams to score is -190, while no is +130.

Toronto should be able to protect home field and grab a victory in this match.

FC Dallas vs LA Galaxy | FC Dallas Ready to Get Out of Kansas

FC Dallas has been stuck in a nightmare in Kansas City this week.

Not only did Sporting KC beat Dallas during the team’s last MLS match last weekend, but Sporting KC then handed FC Dallas a 2-1 loss in the U.S. Open Cup.

FC Dallas has dropped three of its past four MLS matches.

FC Dallas’ attack has struggled to put the ball in the back of the net. That has left Dallas’ backline exposed.

Dallas has allowed three or more goals in four of its past five MLS matches.

Dallas does have an attacker who can help push the pace.

Petar Musa leads FC Dallas with 11 goals this season, while Patrick Delgado has helped score and facilitate this season. Delgado has three goals and two assists.

The Galaxy have been in an excellent run of form as of late.

The Galaxy have won five of their past six matches and remain in a position to make a run for the top spot in the Western Conference.

Los Angeles has been scoring at a high clip.

The Galaxy have produced two or more goals in four of their past six matches.

During a 2-1 win over Minnesota United early this week, the Galaxy generated an xG of 2.5 in a 2-1 win.

FC Dallas is +170 on the three-way moneyline.

The LA Galaxy are +143 to win in regulation, while the match is +255 to end in a draw.

The over/under has been set at 2.5 goals.

Back the Galaxy to pick up a win in this match.

Seattle Sounders FC vs St. Louis City SC | Seattle Seeks Control

Seattle is coming off a win in the Open Cup over Sacramento.

Austin has won two of its past three matches, but have been inconsistent overall this season.

Seattle is +170 on the three-way moneyline.

Austin is +148 to win in regulation, while the match is +245 to end in a draw.

The over/under has been set at 2.5 goals.

Back this match to go the distance.

Betting MLS Matchday 25

With many people taking a long weekend for the Fourth of July Holiday in the United States, there should be some enthusiastic crowds out at sporting events this weekend.

But part of the appeal of the MLS is the amount of ground the league covers.

Two Canadian teams, CF Montreal and the Vancouver Whitecaps, will also lock horns this weekend in what should be a fun matchup.

Here’s a look at a few of the matchup on the weekend slate and what to expect.

Writer’s MLS Matchday 25 Picks for the Weekend

Vancouver Would Like to Maintain Spot in Standings

The Whitecaps and CF Montreal find themselves in considerably different spots in the MLS standings.

Vancouver is in fifth place in the Western Conference and in a position to challenge for the top four.

Montreal is outside the top eight and will need to scrap hard to stay in the playoff hunt.

Despite their different circumstances, both teams are +155 on the three-way moneyline for the team’s meeting this weekend.

The match is +260 to end in a draw. The over/under has been set at 2.5 goals.

Vancouver’s attack has woken up in recent weeks.

The Whitecaps have picked up consecutive wins over St. Louis and Minnesota United.

Vancouver have scored three or more goals in both of those victories, going well past its expected goals.

Montreal has failed two scores in two of its past five matches.

The Impact only generated an xG of .9 during its 2-0 loss to NYCFC on Wednesday.

Back Vancouver to get a win here.

MLS Pick: Vancouver Whitecaps

FC Cincinnati Gunning for the No. 1 Spot

Saturday, July 6th, 2024

The Orange and Blue have a roster full of players hoping to overtake Inter Miami for first place in the Eastern Conference standings.

Taking three points from the Herons, who are depleted of their starpower, this weekend would go a long way toward accomplishing that.

Inter Miami has been without Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez, who are away at Copa America playing for Argentina and Uruguay, respectively.

Even playing without its stars, Inter Miami has been hard to slow down.

The Herons have won all four consecutive games without Messi with identical 2-1 scores.

FC Cincinnati has won four of its past five matches.

During this stretch, FC Cincinnati has scored three or more goals in a match three times.

The Orange and Blue were able to gut out a midweek win over D.C. United despite not playing its best match.

FC Cincinnati only generated an xG of .9 during a 3-2 victory.

FC Cincinnati is -137 on the three-way moneyline to win the match.

Inter Miami is +330 to win in regulation, while the match is +295 to end in a draw.

Back FC Cincinnati to stop Inter Miami’s winning streak.

MLS Pick: FC Cincinnati

Back Revolution to Upset Sounders

Saturday, July 6th, 2024

The Seattle Sounders have spent most of this season attempting to dig their way out of a hole they fell into early.

The Sounders are on a four-match unbeaten streak and have scored two or more goals in every game during this streak to work their way up to ninth place in the Western Conference.

Seattle is a -190 favorite to win at home this weekend.

New England is +500 on the three-way moneyline and has fallen out of the Eastern Conference playoff picture.

The Revolution, however, has been in a run of good form. New England has won four of its past five matches.

Giacomo Vrioni has a team-high seven goals for the Revolution, while Carles Gil has scored eight times.

Seattle is coming off a 2-1 win over the Chicago Fire where it held a 2.3-1.7 edge in expected goals while holding possession for 52 percent of the match.

This is a spot where it is good to back New England at a big underdog price.

This is a small wager spot. Seattle is still likely to win, but the price is too big to pass up.

MLS Pick: Seattle Sounders FC

NYCFC Looks to Prove Their Standings

Saturday, July 6th, 2024

NYCFC being out of the postseason last year was unfathomable for how good of a program they had been in recent years.

While NYCFC is back in fourth place in the Eastern Conference standings, there is still a pressure to prove themselves.

During June, NYCFC had a stretch of three embarrassing results in mid-June.

The Cityzens lost to the Columbus Crew, Nashville SC and Orlando City in three straight matches.

In the final two of those three contests, NYCFC were shutout. However, NYCFC has started to find its level.

NYCFC enters this match having won two straight. Austin will hope to give NYCFC a rude welcome to Texas.

It hasn’t been an easy year for Austin. Austin FC has struggled to score and has a minus-seven goal differential.

Austin is +170 on the three-way moneyline. NYCFC is +148 to win in regulation, while the match is +240 to end in a draw.

The over/under has been set at 2.5 goals.

Back this match to go over the total and the Cityzens to come away with a victory.

MLS Pick: New York City FC

RSL Ready to Welcome Atlanta

Saturday, July 6th, 2024

Scoring against RSL has been difficult this season.

Opponents have only broken through for 25 goals during their first 21 matches of the season.

RSL took its first loss in late June since March.

During RSL’s last few matches, the attack has produced as well.

Setting aside the 1-0 loss to the Los Angeles Galaxy, RSL was able to score four times against Sporting Kansas City and put three goals in against the Dynamo.

RSL generated an xG of 3.5 during its 3-2 win over the Dynamo on Wednesday.

RSL is -195 to beat Atlanta United on the three-way moneyline.

The Five Stripes at +510 to win the match, while the match is +310 to end in a draw.

The over/under has been set at 2.5 goals. Atlanta lost its last match 2-1 against the Revolution despite holding the ball for 58 percent of the match.

Back RSL to protect home field and win this match.

MLS Pick: Real Salt Lake

Top 2022 MLS Odds: Three Matches to Must Bet On the Weekend

Previous Betting News

The MLS All-Star game is over after Wednesday night’s classic in Minnesota. With the summer transfer window also closed, the teams can full turn their attention to finishing strong in the regular season and qualifying for the MLS Cup Playoffs.

After a busy stretch of playing three games in two weeks for most teams, they have now enjoyed a week off with the All-Star break. Every team has between nine and 11 games left in the regular season. This week doesn’t have a bunch of high profile games as the top teams are facing teams outside of the playoff picture.

However there are still three games that will impact the playoff spots for both teams. In the West, fourth-place Minnesota United faces sixth-place Nashville SC and fifth-place Real Salt Lake plays eighth-place Seattle Sounders. In the East, conference leaders Philadelphia Union host a surging seventh-place Chicago Fire. Let’s have a look at the top upcoming games for the weekend so you can bet against their MLS Odds.

Top 2022 Major League Soccer Betting Games for Saturday, August 13th and Sunday, August 14th

United, Nashville Look to Rebound

After hosting the MLS All-Star festivities this week, Minnesota United heads to Nashville for a nationally televised Sunday night showdown. Both teams lost 4-3 last weekend, MUNFC at Colorado Rapids and Nashville against Toronto FC. These teams drew 1-1 in Minnesota in March and both of their all-time matchups have ended in draws.

The loss for Minnesota last weekend snapped a season-best seven-game unbeaten streak. They are two points ahead of Nashville and only four points separate third place from eighth place in the West.

Nashville’s Hany Mukhtar ranks third in the league with 13 goals and also leads the team in assists. Minnesota had to play in Colorado without suspended starters Robin Lod, Emanuel Reynoso and Michael Boxall, all will be available this weekend. Reynolso leads the team with nine goals while Luis Amarilla has eight.

At MyBookie, Nashville SC is the home favorite at -107. Minnesota United is +275 to win on the road and draw is +255. Over 2.5 goals is -120 and under 2.5 goals is -105.

Seattle Charging to the End Line

This has been a bizarre season for the Seattle Sounders with a CONCACAF Champions League title but an injury-ravaged regular season. They are one point outside of the playoffs but have played less games than three teams in front of them and a win this weekend could get them as high as fourth.

Meanwhile, Real Salt Lake have lost three of the last five to slide down into fifth place, just two points ahead of the Sounders. They beat Seattle at home 1-0 in March and knocked the Sounders out of the 2021 playoffs with a penalty kick win on the road.

Seattle has won two straight at home overall and four straight regular season home wins against RSL. At MyBookie, Seattle is a home favorite at -105 with RSL at +270 and a draw is +245. Over 2.5 goals is -125 and under 2.5 goals is -105

Union Seek Revenge on Chicago

The Philadelphia Union were stunned last weekend with a 3-1 loss on the road to FC Cincinnati. The loss ended a six-match unbeaten streak for the Eastern Conference leaders, and marked the first time since last season they gave up more than two goals in a game.

Meanwhile the upstart Chicago Fire are now on a streak of their own with five straight unbeaten after knocking off Charlotte FC last Saturday. Xherdan Shaqiri has been a game changer, scoring and distributing to the likes of Kacper Przybylko, Chris Mueller and Jhon Duran.

The Fire will have their hands full with a Union defense that has allowed just 18 goals all season. All-star goalkeeper Andre Blake has played every single minute this season and leads a defense where three of the four players have started at least 21 of 24 games.

Chicago won at home against Philadelphia 1-0 in June but the road team has just two wins in the last 19 games between these teams. Now the Union have the chance to get revenge on one of the three teams to beat them this season.

At MyBookie, the Union are a big home favorite at -153 while the Fire are +390 to sweep the season series. A draw is +285, over 2.5 goals is -147 and under 2.5 goals is +111

Top 2022 MLS Odds: Six Great Matches to Bet On the Weekend

Previous Betting News

Major League Soccer has a huge Saturday. On August 13, almost every team in MLS steps onto pitches throughout the nation in matches. Check out six games that should be on your radar. MLS Odds, analysis, and free picks await.

Top 2022 Major League Soccer Betting Games for Saturday, August 13th

New York City FC +134 vs Inter Miami CF +175

When: Saturday, Aug. 13 at 6:00 pm ET

Although these two teams are in similar form, New York City FC has dominated the head-to-head. NYFC is 3-0 in the last 3 throw downs.

New York City beat Miami 2-0 on August 14, 2021. Then on October 30 last year, NYC dusted Inter Miami 3-1. The last match happened on July 23, 2022, not that long ago. New York City beat the home dog in this 2-0. The odds make the road team more than playable.

Soccer Pick: Inter Miami

Columbus Crew +235 vs Colorado Rapids -101

When: Saturday, Aug. 13 at 7:00 pm ET

Both teams head into this off wins. The Crew beat New York City FC 3-2. Colorado beat Minnesota United 4-3.

The Rapids, because this happens on their pitch, should be the chalk. But Colorado has allowed a combined 7 goals in their last couple of matches. Columbus can take advantage of the Rapids’ porous defense. Also, the odds on the Crew make them an overlay.

Soccer Pick: Columbus Crew

CF Montreal +190 vs Houston Dynamo +125

When: Saturday, Aug. 13 at 7:00 pm ET

The Dynamo have lost 4-of-5, including 3 straight. One of the losses was downright pathetic. On July 30, Philadelphia Union destroyed Houston 6-0.

CF Montreal heads to Texas playing great soccer. The road dog has won 3 with a couple of draws in their last 5. Montreal would be the pick, but the Dynamo should bounce back. The draw looks promising.

Soccer Pick: Draw

San Jose Earthquakes +300 vs FC Dallas -126

When: Saturday, Aug. 13 at 7:00 pm ET

In their last 5, home team chalk FC Dallas shows 2 wins, 2 draws, and a loss. San Jose is in much worse form.

The underdog Earthquakes have 2 losses and 3 draws. Dallas isn’t playing well enough to warrant a bet straight up. It’s tough to back San Jose because they haven’t won in 5 straight. Here’s another MLS contest where the draw looks probable.

Soccer Pick: Draw

Minnesota United +235 vs Nashville SC +109

When: Sunday, Aug. 14 at 7:00 pm ET

Minnesota is worth a long look. These two drew in the last head-to-head in March. But the road dog offers overlay odds to win this.

Not only that, but Minnesota has won 3 with a draw and a loss. The loss happened in United’s last versus Colorado. The Rapids’ offense is unstoppable right now. Nashville has drawn 3 times and lost twice in their last 5. Minnesota gets the nod.

Soccer Pick: Minnesota United

Real Salt Lake +260 vs Seattle Sounders -106

When: Sunday, Aug. 14 at 8:00 pm ET

Home team Seattle has won twice and lost 3 in their last 5. Although the form isn’t great, it’s better than underdog Real Salt Lake’s.

The road squad in this has lost 3 with a draw and a win their last 5. The draw happened against San Jose, which doesn’t impress much. The Sounders rock their Sunday opponent.

Soccer Pick: Seattle Sounders

Top 2021 MLS Match to Bet On the Weekend: Sporting Kansas City vs Colorado Rapids

Previous Betting News

August is an interesting month for the MLS, especially with players coming back from the CONCACAF Gold Cup and returning to their teams. The Summer Transfer Window is ongoing and heating up this week with some big trades and transfers. The action is also plentiful with every team facing jam-packed league schedules as the League’s Cup with LigaMX starts next week, and the MLS All-Star game is at the end of the month.

In midweek action, Sporting Kansas City took over the top spot in the Western Conference from the Seattle Sounders, while New England remains atop the Eastern Conference. Both teams face crucial games this weekend. Let’s take a closer look at the upcoming matches so you can bet against their MLS odds.

MLS Weekend Betting Preview – Sporting Kansas City and New England Fighting for the Lead

Sporting Kansas City Travels to Colorado

Not often does the team with the best record in the conference head into a game as an underdog. But that is the case with Sporting KC this weekend as they head to Colorado Rapids for a 9:00 p.m. kickoff on Saturday. While SKC leads the West with 33 points, Colorado is in fourth on 27 points.

Sporting have dominated this series as of late with four wins and three draws in their last eight games against Colorado Rapids. The last three games between the teams in Colorado have ended in draws, but KC won 3-1 at home on June 23.

Among the big moves this week, Sporting KC sold teenager Gianluca Busio to Venezia of Italy’s Serie A. Busio featured for the US Men’s National Team at the Gold Cup and scored eight goals in three seasons in the MLS.

The Rapids are enjoying a nice run at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park, where they have scored at least one goal in 32 straight games, the longest active streak in the league. That likely plays into why they are favored in this one at +129 on the moneyline to SKC’s +190.

SKC can score, though, and they put four past LAFC on Wednesday night. The total for this game is 2.5 goals, with the over at -135 and the under at -102.

Last year the regular season belonged to Philadelphia Union as they claimed the Supporters’ Shield with the best record. This season that position currently belongs to New England as they sit on 37 points through 18 games with 11 wins and four draws. The Union are in third place with 28 points as they head to Gillette Stadium for a 6:00 p.m. ET kickoff on Sunday.

New England is favored at -105, with the Union at +260. Philadelphia has absolutely owned this series recently with eight wins and three draws in the last 12 games, and they haven’t lost in their last four trips to Massachusetts. New England upset the Union in the 2020 MLS Cup Playoffs with a 2-0 win.

Bruce Arena’s Revolution have been the best team in the East since opening week this season, and they have now surpassed Sporting KC and Seattle Sounders for most overall points. They won four games in a row before a 0-0 draw against Nashville SC on Wednesday, just their second game without a goal in 2021.

The Union have struggled on the road this season, hence the moneyline difference. They haven’t won away from Philly since May and have four losses in the last six road games. The total is 2.5 goals, with the over at -155 and the under at +120.

MLS Odds & Picks for July 25th Games

Previous Betting News

While we await news of how Phase Two of the return to action is going to look for the MLS, we can still get to enjoy the MLS is Back Tournament for another couple of weeks. The group stage is now complete, and we will head into the Round of 16 starting on Saturday, July 25. The points earned by teams in the group stage will count toward the regular season standings, but the knockout phase of the tournament is mostly for fun, although the winner of this event will land a spot in the CONCACAF Champions League next season. The 16 teams in this round are made up of the top two teams from each group, as well as the 4 best third place finishers. There are two games set for Saturday, so let’s take a closer look at both so you can plan ahead your bets against their MLS odds.

MLS Betting Analysis for July 25th Games

Orlando City Vs Montreal Impact

If truth be told, not very much was expected of Orlando City heading into this tournament, but they ended up putting together a very solid performance in Group A. They started things out with a bit of a shaky performance, needing a late goal to beat Inter Miami 2-1. They looked a whole lot better in Game 2, running out 3-1 winners versus NYCFC. They had already punched their ticket into the Round of 16 at that point, so settling for a 1-1 tie with Philadelphia was enough to keep them on top of Group A, which meant a more manageable draw in this round.

It looked to be the end of the road for the Montreal Impact after losing their opening 2 games of the tournament, but they pulled off a bit of a surprise result with the 1-0 win over DC United in the final group game. Despite that win, they still needed to wait to see if they had done enough to land one of the third-place spots, which they did, courtesy of their -1 goal difference.

Montreal has won 3 of the last 4 meetings between these two teams, but you get the feeling that things might be a little different this season. I like Orlando to win a close one and move on.

Pick: Orlando City 2 Montreal Impact 1

Philadelphia Union Vs New England Revolution

Group C proved to be one of the tightest of the bunch, with a number of draws helping keep things close. The New England Revolution made it through the group unbeaten, but a pair of draws kept them to 5 points, the same total as Toronto, the group winners. They were involved in a trio of tight games, scoring 2 and surrendering just 1, but it was that lack of goals that cost them the top spot.

The Philadelphia Union also finished second in their group on goal difference, losing out to Orlando City. Had they been able to hold off Orlando in the final Group A game, they would have had a much easier tie than what they have here. That said, they are uneaten in their last 5 (won 4 drawn 1) meetings with New England, so they probably feel a little confident heading into this one.

I don’t think we are going to see a ton of goals here, and it may well be a single strike that decides it. A slight edge to Philadelphia.

Pick: Philadelphia Union 1 New England Revolution 0
