Betting MLS Matchday 30 of the Season

Major League Soccer plays their games this weekend on Saturday, September 7.

Top matchups include Columbus hosting Seattle, Dallas traveling to Vancouver, and the Houston Dynamo welcoming the Los Angeles Football Club.

Which teams get it done in MLS on Saturday?

Check out soccer odds, analysis, and picks for six of this weekend’s Major League Soccer matches.

Writer’s Picks for Top Games in Matchday 30

Columbus Crew -116 vs Seattle Sounders +285

Seattle isn’t playing their best soccer.

The road underdog in this has won a single match in their last 4 when beating Minnesota 3-2 on August 24.

Columbus is on fire. The Crew is on a 7-match winning streak.

In their last, Columbus blasted New York City FC 4-2.

The odds make the home team more than playable.

MLS Pick: Columbus Crew

New England Revolution +112 vs St. Louis City SC +212

Neither team is in great form.

Road dog St. Louis City has won twice, drawn, and lost in their last 4 matches.

The wins were against Portland and the LA Galaxy.

New England has won 3-of-5.

But the Revolution lost their last match via a 2-0 score versus Real Salt Lake in Utah.

Back home, the Revolution should silence their critics.

Still, the form isn’t great so backing the draw is the play.

MLS Pick: Draw

New York Red Bulls -167 vs Sporting Kansas City +400

Sporting KC heads to New York on a 2-match winning streak.

The +400 underdog in this beat Orlando City SC 3-0 and Indy Eleven 2-0 in their last couple of matches.

New York Red Bulls have lost 3-of-4 with a draw.

For sure, NYRB can bounce back and take down Sporting KC.

But the odds, -167, doesn’t justify a bet.

Take a swing on KC and hope to cash big.

MLS Pick: Sporting Kansas City

Chicago Fire FC -101 vs D.C. United +240

The odds on the underdog make them more than playable.

DC United isn’t playing great soccer, but the +240 road dog won their last match in impressive fashion, blasting Toronto 3-1 on the road.

Chicago Fire has lost 4-of-5 with a 2-2 draw versus NYCFC.

The odds make the road dog an overlay play.

Back D.C. United to get it done.

MLS Pick: D.C. United

Houston Dynamo FC +115 vs LAFC +204

Home squad Houston Dynamo shows 2 wins and 3 losses in their last 5.

The Dynamo’s losses came versus Atlas and Toluca in the Leagues Cup and against Toronto on August 24.

LAFC bounced back after falling to Columbus in the Leagues Cup final with a 1-0 victory over Seattle.

But these two played on August 31 and Houston dusted LAFC 2-0.

The Dynamo look tough to beat.

MLS Pick: Houston Dynamo

Vancouver Whitecaps -104 vs FC Dallas +255

Home squad Vancouver should have no trouble getting the win.

The Whitecaps have played great soccer, winning 3-of-4.

The lone loss came against Pumas UNAM in a Leagues Cup match on August 7.

Pumas is one of the top teams in the Mexican Liga.

Also, the Whitecaps bounced back from the loss by beating Austin 1-0 on August 31.

FC Dallas has lost 3-of-4, which is why backing Vancouver at the fair odds is the bet to make.

MLS Pick: Vancouver Whitecaps

13 Games Total

New England Revolution vs. Austin FC

MLS Odds: New England -0.5; Austin +0.5 / New England -130; Austin +320; Draw +310 / O/U 3.5
Saturday, September 2nd, 2023 at 7:30 PM
Gillette Stadium, Foxborough, Massachusetts

The Revolution will get a stiff test Friday night from an Austin FC team that needs points to get back into the top nine in the Western Conference.

New England, which is a -130 favorite on the three-way moneyline, was able to squeak by the New York Red Bulls 1-0 on Aug. 30. Carles Gil and Bobby Wood have led a solid attack for New England, which has produced 43 goals in 25 matches.

Gil has seven goals and six assists this season. Wood has seven goals and five assists. Austin FC, which is +320, hasn’t seen many good things happen for them as of late.

Austin FC has lost four of its past five matches in league play. It hasn’t been an easy stretch either, as Austin played playoff contenders Seattle, FC Dallas, and St. Louis. The over/under for the match is 3.5 goals.

Both teams to score is priced at -320, while no is at +132.

FC Cincinnati vs. Orlando City SC

MLS Odds: Cincinnati -0.5; Orlando +0.5 / Cincinnati -114; Orlando +300; Draw +270 / O/U 2.5
Saturday, September 2nd, 2023 at 7:30 PM
TQL Stadium, Cincinnati, Ohio

FC Cincinnati has an 11-point lead in the Eastern Conference standings. The Orange and Blue have a plus-15 goal differential. Argentine Luciano Acosta has been FC Cincinnati’s best player. He has scored a team-high 13 goals and also contributed eight assists.

FC Cincinnati is hoping to ease into the playoffs. The Orange and Blue, who are -114 to win on the three-way moneyline, have won four of their last five matches.

Orlando City, which is +300, has fought its way to third in the Eastern Conference standings. The Lions are 5-1-1 over their past seven games. Despite the success, Orlando has only posted one shutout during that stretch.

The over/under is set at 2.5 goals. Both teams to score is priced at -152, while no is priced at +117.

Saturday, September 2nd, 2023 at 7:30 PM
Audi Field, Washington, District of Columbia

DC United and the Fire are both battling on the edge of the Eastern Conference playoff race, hoping to find a spot to sneak in. The two teams played to a scoreless draw earlier this season. D.C. United, which is -127 to win, doesn’t enter this game on the best run of form.

MLS Betting Opportunities for Several Games this Weekend

Previous Betting News

Another MLS round is ahead of us, which means there’s plenty of opportunity to earn some extra cash. We’ve prepared several games that are, in our opinion, the most interesting for potential bettors.

Stick around because the upcoming article might be helpful in your MLS betting quest this weekend.

MLS Betting Opportunities for This Weekend’s Game

LAFC vs. Austin FC

Odds: Sporting Kansas City -0.5 -121 | Sporting Kansas City -116, Colorado Rapids +310, Draw +275 | O/U 2.5
When: Saturday, April 8, 7:30 pm ET
Where: BMO Stadium, Los Angeles, USA
TV / Streaming: ESPN+

The hosts aren’t as lethal as in previous years but have only one defeat since the season started. They are coming off a 0-3 victory over the Vancouver Whitecaps in the CONCACAF Champions League, with that being the third event in the past four in which LAFC didn’t allow a single goal.

Austin’s season has been marked with inconsistency and mixed results. The team from Texas has three wins, three losses, and one tie so far, with the previous five events ending with two or three goals.

The hosts are massive favorites, and overall, they play much better than Austin, who still oscillates and searches for the right formula when it comes to providing good results. That’s why LAFC’s victory is expected.

New York City FC vs. Atlanta United

Odds: New York City FC -0.5 -102 | New York City FC +102, Atlanta United +260, Draw +265 | O/U 2.5
When: Saturday, April 8, 7:30 pm ET
Where: Yankee Stadium, New York City, New York
TV / Streaming: ESPN+

The 2021 champs have started the campaign slowly, and so far, we can’t say they look like a team that could compete for the top of the East. Meanwhile, Atlanta is in a completely different mode, and the Five Stripes have left a very good impression.

In six games played, the club from Georgia won four, with one tie and one defeat, scoring 13 and conceding nine goals. Gonzalo Pineda’s crew plays rational and tough football and is still creating chemistry, meaning United has enough room for improvement. City’s games are dull – in six, just one saw three or more goals.

Even though many think this will be a close one, Atlanta’s recent form and performances are far more convincing than New York’s. The team is coming to the Big Apple to collect all three points, and don’t be surprised if they fulfill their mission. This team could create a lot of noise this season.

Sporting Kansas City vs. Colorado Rapids

Odds: Sporting Kansas City -0.5 -121 | Sporting Kansas City -116, Colorado Rapids +310, Draw +275 | O/U 2.5
When: Saturday, April 8, 8:30 pm ET
Where: Yankee Stadium, New York City, New York
TV / Streaming: ESPN+

These two units are hammered to the bottom of the Western Conference without a single victory following six rounds. SKC and the Rapids posted three ties, each with three defeats, scoring two goals, respectively, which is terrible productivity.

Both parties struggle in all the lines on the field, which is why they have defensive-minded game plans. Simply the lack of quality needs to be replaced with strong defenses, and that’s why we usually see their events finishing with under 2.5 goals or only one side netting.

There is no reason to believe this one might see a different outcome. Neither side wants to risk anything and will be very cautious here. So low efficiency is expected and realistic.

Top 2021 MLS Matches to Bet On: Five Stripes and Lions Open the Weekend Action

Previous Betting News

Coming out of the international break, Major League Soccer will take center stage once again. There is a slew of important games on the schedule with the stretch run coming up, so let’s take a look at the key matchups in MLS this weekend along with their MLS Odds.

Top MLS Games to Watch and Wager On the Weekend (Sep 3rd – 4th)

Atlanta United (+116) vs Orlando City SC (+210)

Everything gets started on Friday night between Atlanta and Orlando. Currently, Orlando is a distant second behind New England in the Eastern Conference, while Atlanta is three points out of a playoff spot. At home, Atlanta is a slight favorite at +116, while Orlando has a moneyline of +210.

However, Atlanta has lost two in a row and may not have its international players back in time for Friday’s game. On the other hand, Orlando has Daryl Dike back and managed to pull out a 3-2 win over Columbus last weekend, making them unbeaten in seven straight league games, a stretch that dates back to a 3-2 win over Atlanta.

Colorado Rapids (-121) vs LA Galaxy (+285)

Two of the top teams in the Western Conference meet for a Saturday afternoon matinee as the Galaxy visit Colorado. At home, the Rapids are heavy favorites with a -121 moneyline, while the Galaxy sits at +285 with a draw set at +270.

The Rapids don’t have the most potent attack in the league, but they’ve conceded the second-fewest goals in MLS this season. In fact, they haven’t allowed more than one goal in a match since late June. Of course, the Galaxy have a potent attack, scoring three goals in a draw with LAFC in their last match. However, star striker Javier Hernandez remains sidelined with an injury with no news of his return.

New England Revolution vs New York City FC

The Revs are running away with the Eastern Conference and will have a chance to avenge their most recent loss this weekend when they host NYCFC. New York City FC stunned New England with a 2-0 victory last month, helping to keep them in line for a playoff spot.

Of course, they are still underdogs as they visit New England with a +215 moneyline while the Revs have a moneyline of +103. New England’s problem is that Adam Buksa and Tajon Buchanan, who have combined for 16 of the club’s 45 goals this season, will both be questionable after international duty. That could open the door for NYCFC despite following up their upset over New England with a 3-1 loss to Nashville last weekend.

Houston Dynamo FC vs Austin FC

While this game is between the two worst teams in the Western Conference, the in-state rivalry between Houston and Austin can’t be ignored. At home, the Dynamo is a slight favorite with a +105 moneyline, while Austin is left with a +235 moneyline. Houston’s winless streak is now at 16 games, which explains why they are at the bottom of the table.

They’ve also conceded at least two goals in seven straight matches, including a 3-2 loss to Austin. To be fair, Austin’s offense is coming alive with seven goals in three matches. The only problem is they’ve allowed eight goals in those three matches, which indicates that this battle of basement dwellers could get a little crazy.

2020 USL & MLS Games to Bet on this Week

Previous Betting News

While soon-to-be-disgraced former owner Dell Loy Hansen has dominated the soccer headlines in the United States as he is being forced to sell Utah Soccer Holdings, which owns MLS team Real Salt Lake, NWSL team Utah Royals and USL team Real Monarchs, there’s a lot going on in both, the MLS and USL heading further into the new week, Hansen’s irresponsible statements on current race relations in the U.S., aside. With that said and a bunch of value-packed soccer betting action going down this week in both league’s let’s find out what lies ahead for the coming week so you can place your bets against their USL odds & MLS odds.

MLS & USL Championship Top Games of the Week, Highlights, and Predictions

United Soccer League Matches

San Antonio (7-0-3) hits the new week as the only unbeaten team in the USL Championship regular season following its 3-1 win over Rio Grande Valley FC on Friday night in the South Texas. Orange County SC (4-1-3) and the Tampa Bay Rowdies (6-1-3) both suffered their first losses of the season on the road, in falling to Las Vegas and Charleston respectively in their last matches. Reno 1868 FC has suffered one home loss and one road loss, but they are tied with San Antonio for a league-high seven victories heading into Week 11. The Birmingham Legion (6-1-3), Pittsburgh Riverhounds (6-3-1), Indy Eleven (6-3-1), New Mexico United (6-2-2), Phoenix Rising FC (6-2-2) and Charleston Battery (6-2-2) are the only other teams to have recorded six wins or more at this point.

Phoenix star Junior Flemmings leads the league in goals scored with 10 while Indy Eleven’s Tyler Pasher has eight. Phoenix striker Rufat Dadashov is third with seven goals while four players are sitting on six goals. Charlotte keeper Brandon Miller and Atlanta United 2 keeper Ben Lundgaard are tied with a league-high 42 saves. Saint Luis FC keeper Kyle Morton has 3 saves, LA Galaxy II keeper Abraham Romero has 31 saves and Loudoun United FC keeper rounds out the top five with 28 saves.

Here is a look at the top goals of the past week.

Major League Soccer Matches

Now, let’s get to my top two matchups on the coming MLS slate of action, with both affairs going down on Wednesday night.

Philadelphia Union (4-1-3) vs Columbus Crew (5-1-2)

Philadelphia is sitting in third place in the Eastern Conference with 12 goals scored and eight allowed. The Union come into this affair riding consecutive wins including an emphatic 4-1 win over DC United on Saturday. Columbus is sitting in second place in the Eastern Conference with 12 goals scored and a league-low two goals allowed. However, the Crew are struggling after winning just one of their last four games. Columbus managed to play Hell is Real rivals, FC Cincinnati, to a scoreless draw on Saturday following a 1-0 loss against New York in their previous match.

Prediction

While Columbus has the league’s best defense, the Crew are not playing well at the offensive end of the pitch while Philadelphia has picked up their play over the last couple of weeks. While Columbus is the big favorite in this clash of legitimate title hopefuls, I like Philly to get the draw at the very least while pushing the Crew for the outright win.

Pick: Philadelphia 1 Columbus 1
When: Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2020 at 7:30 PM ET
Money Lines: Philadelphia +245 / Columbus +104 / Draw +246

Seattle Sounders (4-1-2) vs Real Salt Lake (2-1-4)

Seattle is in second place in the Western Conference with 13 goals scored and just five allowed defensively. The defending champion Sounders have won two straight and come into this matchup fresh off a convincing 3-1 win over LA FC on Sunday. Real Salt Lake is sitting in fifth place out west with 11 goals scored and eight conceded. Despite dealing with a ton of unwanted national attention this past week, Real Salt Lake managed to scratch out a hard-fought 4-4 draw against Portland on Saturday

Prediction

Real Salt Lake may have managed to pull out a huge draw the last time out, but Seattle is playing well right now and looking more like the defending champs they are than they have all season. Real Salt Lake will still get a ton of questions from the media about their polarizing owner and that could cause them to lose their focus as they try to move past the distraction. Seattle gets it done in this one by two goals!

Pick: Seattle 3 Real Salt Lake 1
When: Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2020 at 9:30 PM ET
Money Lines: Seattle +186 / Real Salt Lake +134 / Draw +242
