The MLS regular season is in its final days, yet there is so much left to be decided regarding the playoffs. While Sunday in the regular-season finale for the league, there are five games scheduled for either Tuesday or Wednesday of this week, most of which have playoff implications. Let’s take a look at all of the midweek MLS games on the schedule so you can wager against the MLS odds.
Best MLS Games to Watch and Wager On the Week (Nov. 2nd – 3rd)
LAFC vs Vancouver Whitecaps
LAFC looks like one of the hottest teams in MLS after a 3-0 win over Seattle in its last game. Perhaps that explains the lopsided odds on Tuesday, with LAFC, favored at -196 at home. Of course, Bob Bradley’s team needs to keep winning to get into the playoffs. As for the Whitecaps are also unbeaten in four straight matches and know that three points would take them a long way toward the postseason. Vancouver is also an intriguing value pick at +440.
CF Montreal vs Houston Dynamo FC
This will be the season finale for the Dynamo, which will be a +360 underdog on the road against Montreal. Houston is in danger of finishing last in the Western Conference if Austin catches up to them late in the year. They also lost three in a row and have just one win in seven games. That’s good news for Montreal, a -144 home favorite in this game and likely needs two wins to end the season to have any playoff hopes.
New York Red Bulls vs Atlanta United FC
Both teams could potentially lock up a playoff spot on Wednesday with a win, although either team would probably take a draw. While just one point separates them in the standings, the Red Bulls are considerable favorites at home with a -114 Moneyline, while Atlanta’s Moneyline is set at +290. Not only are the Red Bulls are home, but they have won five of six games and have one of the best defensive records in the league, which explains the difference in betting odds for this match. Then again, Atlanta is unbeaten in four straight matches and has come on strong late in the season.
Austin FC vs Sporting Kansas City
As has become customary this season, Austin FC is an underdog at +200, although Kansas City’s Moneyline is set at +120, so this isn’t a lopsided matchup. Austin has shown signs of life late in the season and has a chance to avoid a last-place finish with a win either Wednesday or Sunday. Of course, Sporting Kansas City is currently in a three-way race for the top seed in the Western Conference playoffs, which comes with a bye in the first round of the playoffs. But after a disappointing loss to Minnesota on Sunday, Kansas City’s confidence could be lacking ahead of a road game against a last-place team.
Real Salt Lake vs Portland Timbers
Salt Lake’s playoff hopes took a huge hit with a 4-3 loss to San Jose over the weekend, leaving them on the outside looking in. However, they favored at home on Wednesday with a -102 Moneyline compared to Portland’s +245 Moneyline. The Timbers aren’t as desperate for a win, but they know that a win secures them a playoff spot. Plus, after snapping a three-game losing streak last week, the Timbers would love to keep the wins coming heading to the postseason.
