These teams last met on Jan. 13 in Premier League play with Manchester United prevailing 1-0 at Tottenham. The lone goal was from Marcus Rashford in the 44th minute. David De Gea was spectacular in goal for United in making more second-half saves with 11 than any other goalkeeper had made in an entire Premier League match up to that point of the season. De Gea was forced into a superb save to deny Dele Alli from a header, while Harry Kane also went close on a couple of occasions.
Why Bet on Tottenham?
Spurs opened the International Champions Cup with a wild 3-2 win over Italian side Juventus on Sunday. It looked to be headed for a 2-2 draw, but Harry Kane scored on a magnificent 95th-minute goal. Without even looking up, the England captain instinctively hit one from the halfway line which sailed over former Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny.
“You don’t practice that, no. It’s just one of those things that is instinctive on the pitch,” Kane said after the last-gasp victory. “To be fair, there was a chance in the first half were Gianluigi Buffon was off his line, and half the bench told Sonny to shoot from inside his own half. So, it was in my mind from then.”
Kane admitted his strike in the National Stadium was “probably” the best in his career. Last season’s injuries prevented Kane from breaking the 20-goal barrier in the Premier League for a fifth successive campaign.
“It being in a friendly means it didn’t mean as much, but in terms of the strike it was right up there, so the next aim is to try and do it in a competitive match, either in the Premier League or Champions League. That would be nice.”
Erik Lamela had put Spurs in front before Gonzalo Higuain and Cristiano Ronaldo turned the game in favor of the Italian champions. Lucas Moura tied it at 2-2 in the 65th minute.
Having been invited to be part of the pre-season tour of Asia, striker Troy Parrott, 17, and center-back Japhet Tanganga, 20, both started our ICC opener against the Italian champions and went on to provide encouraging accounts of themselves in the stifling heat. Japhet partnered Toby Alderweireld on the defense and Troy lined up in attack alongside Heung-Min Son and had a hand in the opening goal. In addition, Jack Roles and Harvey White came on in the second half, also making their first appearances for the first team.
Alderweireld has admitted that he expects to start the season with Tottenham with no club having yet triggered his £25 million release clause which is due to expire on Thursday.
“I think the manager knows I am committed to the club and the team, but you never know in football,” he said. “I was captain against Juventus so that shows the manager has trust in me and I’m showing the right attitude.”
Tottenham Hotspur also has accepted a bid from La Liga side Atletico Madrid for England full-back Kieran Trippier. The 28-year-old, who joined from Burnley in 2015, recently admitted that he was unsure if he would see out the remainder of his current contract which was due to expire in 2022.

Why Bet on Manchester United?
The Red Devils opened this competition with a 1-0 win over Inter Milan. The goal came from 17-year-old Mason Greenwood. He came on in the second half to fire Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side in front on 75 minutes in a game that also saw Ashley Young booed by United fans and Victor Lindelof limp off with a hamstring injury. It’s not thought that Lindelof’s injury is too serious.
The Red Devils were also without Romelu Lukaku (ankle), and his availability remains unclear. “Of course, if you’re a player and don’t manage to train for a week, and Rom’s missed three games now, he’ll be concerned. He’s working to get back on the pitch and let’s see how long it takes,” Solskjaer said.
The manager picked a strong side to play Inter, which included new signings Dan James and Aaron Wan-Bissaka and goalkeeper David De Gea for the first time this summer. Lindelof started alongside Axel Tuanzebe in the center of defense with fullbacks Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Luke Shaw either side. Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic began the game in midfield behind a front four of James, Jesse Lingard, Marcus Rashford and central striker Anthony Martial.
De Gea has signed a six-year extension with the Red Devils that will keep him at Old Trafford until 2025. The contract is said to be worth around £375k per week and will keep the Spain international at the club until he is 34. It means De Gea will have spent 14-years in Manchester having joined from Atletico Madrid in 2011. De Gea suffered a dip in form at the end of last season but the 28-year-old is determined to help United recover from a disappointing sixth-place finish. De Gea has thrown his hat into the ring to be Manchester United’s next captain. Solskjaer is looking for a new skipper after Antonio Valencia’s departure.
“I’ve been captain for some games,” De Gea said. “Of course, it is amazing to be captain of a club like Manchester United and defend this badge. It’s amazing, so of course, I’ll be really, really happy to captain.”
Juventus are reportedly ready to sell Paulo Dybala to Manchester United – providing the Premier League club meet their £70m-£90m valuation. Solskjaer has already bolstered his squad with the signings of Daniel James and Wan-Bissaka this summer and is closing in on an £80m deal for Harry Maguire. Manchester United are also being linked with moves for Nicolas Pepe and Bruno Fernandes but are not believed to be interested in signing Real Madrid outcast, Gareth Bale.
