What is the The Basketball Tournament 2020?

The Basketball Tournament is a yearly event that involves 24 hoops teams. Most teams are comprised of former college basketball all-star players. Teams compete for a $1 million prize.

The $1 million prize is half of the 2019 $2 million prize.

Last season, Carmen’s Crew, made up of Ohio State alumni, beat the Golden Eagles, made up of Marquette Alumni. The Crew beat the Eagles 66-60.

You mustn’t be an alumni from the school to play on a participating team. Not only that but in the 2020 tournament, the tournament added nine college basketball alumni squads. That’s led to beefed up rosters.

Already top seeds have fallen. 5-Eberlein Drive is out. So is 6-Challenge ALS.

What’s interesting is that each player on the winning team gets a cut of the $1 million prize. The tournament sends their cash prize to each player via Zelle.

The system t define the winner of a games is Elam Ending. The system consists in shut the game clock off halfway through the fourth quarter and set a Target Score. The first team to the Target Score wins.

Another interesting fact about TBT is that teams may include women. They’ve had 15 women play in TBT thus far.

Top 4 Seed Profiles

As of early on July 8, the Top 4 seeds remain in the tournament. Check out profiles for each!

1-Carmen’s Crew – The defending champs got the dollars last year. They want that money again. Jared Sullinger is the coach and general manager. He’s also a player.

Carmen’s Crew added former Michigan point-guard Trey Burke to last year’s squad, making them even more of a favorite in 2020.

No word yet on what Michigan fans think of a Wolverine playing for a squad made up mostly of Buckeyes.

2-Overseas Elite – A 2019 semifinal participant, Overseas Elite lost once in last year’s tournament. Who beat them? Carmen’s Crew 71-66. Elite added former NBA great Joe Johnson.

Last year, Johnson played in Ice Cube’s Big3 Basketball league.

3-Boeheim’s Army – Made up of mostly former Syracuse Orange greats, Boeheim’s Army has a couple of past NBA first round picks on the roster, Chris McCullough and Tyler Lydon.

In the 2016 NCAA Tournament, Boeheim’s Army addition Malachi Richardson led the Orange to the Final Four. The ACC Freshman of the Year that season, Richardson scored 23 points in Syracuse’s upset win over 1-seed Virginia in the Elite Eight.

4-Golden Eagles – Players Dwight Buycks and former Los Angeles Clipper Jamil Wilson return. But if the Eagles want to win it all this season, it will be because of additions Luke Fischer and Darius Johnson-Odom.

Which two teams figure to duke it out in The Basketball Tournament 2020 Finals?

Both Carmen’s Crew and Overseas Elite will be difficult to beat.

However, Boeheim’s Army looked good taking down Men of Mackey, a squad made up of Purdue alumni, 76-69 on July 7. Give Boeheim’s Army a shot to beat Overseas Elite and battle Carmen’s Crew in The Basketball Tournament 2020 Finals.

The Golden Eagles also have a chance. So far so good for the Eagles, who dominated Team CP3, 76-67 on Monday.

Bottom line? Because of beefed up rosters, you can take your pick among the Top 4 squads to win The Basketball Tournament 2020!
