Tennessee vs Alabama College Football Week 8 Odds & Betting Analysis

One of college football’s most heated rivalries resumes on Saturday when 11-ranked Alabama hosts 17-ranked Tennessee. Although Bama and the Vols play in different SEC divisions, the two programs have butt heads for a long time. Both squads show a single loss on their records. So this SEC clash is meaningful.

Will the Tide push back the Volunteers? Or will Tennessee signal they’re one of the SEC’s best?

Check out the odds on College Football that MyBookie has for this game, plus the betting analysis and free pick for Tennessee Volunteers versus Alabama Crimson Tide.

Why Bet on Tennessee versus Alabama

Unlike last season, this season the Tennessee Volunteers are playing excellent defense. Only 2 teams have scored 20 or more points against the Vols.

South Carolina dropped 20 in a 41-20 Tennessee win. In their third game of the season, Florida upset Tennessee after scoring 29.

Other than the Gamecocks and Gators, Tennessee’s defense has played fantastic football. The offense is as good as ever. So if the Vols play great defense, they can keep this close for sure.

Tennessee Volunteers Offensive Averages

  • Total Yards: 443.8
  • Passing Yards: 212.5
  • Rushing Yards: 231.3
  • Points Scored: 33.5
  • Turnovers: 3

Tennessee Volunteers Defensive Averages

  • Total Yards: 303.0
  • Passing Yards: 197.8
  • Rushing Yards: 105.2
  • Points Scored: 17.0
  • Takeaways: 6

Why Bet on Alabama versus Tennessee

Alabama’s defense has played well this season. But the real reason to back the Tide in this is because the offense is playing great.

Starting quarterback Jalen Milroe has taken the next step. Early in the season, Milroe struggled. But since a benching at South Florida in Bama’s third game, Milroe has shined.

Jalen threw for 238 yards and tossed a couple of touchdowns in Bama’s win over Arkansas. Milroe has gotten better with each start. So if he improves on Saturday, the Crimson Tide could cover this spread.

Alabama Crimson Tide Offensive Averages

  • Total Yards: 367.9
  • Passing Yards: 219.4
  • Rushing Yards: 148.4
  • Points Scored: 30.1
  • Turnovers: 2

Alabama Crimson Tide Defensive Averages

  • Total Yards: 292.4
  • Passing Yards: 187.1
  • Rushing Yards: 105.3
  • Points Scored: 16.0
  • Takeaways: 7

Alabama versus Tennessee Final Betting Prediction

The Alabama Crimson Tide are a solid squad, but they haven’t played as well as the Volunteers. Tennessee has a single blemish on their record, a 29-16 loss to Florida.

Since losing to the Gators, the Vols have ransacked UT-San Antonio 45-14, dusted South Carolina 41-20, and beaten Texas A&M 20-13.

The win over the Aggies in Tennessee’s last is telling. We know Tennessee can win a shootout but beating a team like A&M in a slowdown, drag out, defensive battle impresses.

Tennessee covers. Don’t be surprised if the Volunteers pull off the money line upset.
