Taipei OEC Open – Round 1

Monday, Nov. 12

  • When:  11:00 pm ET

Barbara Haas -140 vs En-Shuo Liang +120
Austrian Barbara Haas has won a singles title this year. Granted, she only made $62,766, but winning any singles title on the WTA qualifies as an accomplishment. Haas must travel from Austria to China for this tournament, though.

En-Shou Liang is a Taipei 18-year-old who made it all the way to the quarterfinals at the Jiangxi Open in July. She could be a much better player than anybody knows. At the odds, she’s worth backing because her shot of winning might be closer to even money.

Tennis Betting Pick: En-Shuo Liang

Magdalena Frech -110 vs Elena Rybakina -110
Magdalena Frech had all sorts of trouble in her last tournament, the Tashkent Open in Ubekistan from Sep. 24 through Sep. 30. She lost 5-7, 2-6 to Evgeniya Rodina. Rodina was seeded 7th in the Tashkent Open.

Fresh could have better luck against Elena Rybakina in Taipei. Rybakina got out of Round 1 at the Internationaux Strasbourg in Strasbourg, France. However, that was way back in May. Frech gets the slight nod in what should be a competitive match.

Tennis Betting Pick: Magdalena Frech

Sabine Lisicki +115 vs Misaki Doi -135
Misaki Doi of Japan has 2 singles titles and 5 doubles titles victories this year. She bowed out to Sarina Sharipova in Round 1 at the Mumbai Open earlier in November.

Doi battles Sabine Lisicki, a 29-year-old German player who’s won more than $7 million during her career. She’s made a decent living on the tennis courts. This should be a competitive match even though Doi gets the nod.

The reason? Sharipova was the 1-seed at the Mumbai Open where, like Doi, Lisicki bowed out to 8-seed Nao Hibino in Round 1.

Tennis Betting Pick: Misaki Doi

Lin Zhu +145 vs Jil Teichmann -170
Urszula Radwanska made quick work of Lin Zhu at the Mumbai Open. Zhu lost in straight sets 6-7 (5-7), 3-6. Zhu doesn’t have much shot versus Jil Teichmann, a Swiss player that made it to Round 2 at the Genarali Ladies Linz in her last tournament played.

Teichmann should do enough tonight for the straight set win.

Tennis Betting Pick: Jil Teichmann
