Top Tennis Betting Picks of the Week – September 24th Edition

2018 Wuhan Tennis Open

9 of the Top 10 women in the world were in the field when the fifth rendition of the final Premier 5 event of the season kicked off on Sunday. With 900 points on the line Wuhan offers a great chance for anyone ranked in the Top 20 to try to nail down a berth in the BNP Paribas WTA Finals Singapore
  • Top eight seeds: No.1 Simona Halep, No.2 Caroline Wozniacki, No.3 Angelique Kerber, No.4 Caroline Garcia, No.5 Petra Kvitova, No.6 Elina Svitolina, No.7 Naomi Osaka, No.8 Karolina Pliskova
  • Top half: Halep, Kerber, Kvitova, Svitolina Bottom half: Wozniacki, Garcia, Osaka, Pliskova
  • Potential quarterfinals: Halep vs. Svitolina, Kerber vs. Kvitova, Osaka vs. Garcia, Pliskova vs. Wozniacki
  • Last year’s final: Caroline Garcia d. Ashleigh Barty, 6-7(3), 7-6(4), 6-2.
After the post-draw withdrawals of No. 8 Naomi Osaka and Victoria Azarenka, and the early exit of No. 9 Sloane Stephens in the first round, here’s who’s on court on Tuesday.

Tuesday, September 25

  • Petra Kvitova -485
  • Aleksandra Krunic -525
There’s a reason why Petra Kvitova is the overwhelming favorite and it’s because Petra Kvitova is a two-time champ in this tournament and has a tour-leading five titles this year. “I know it’s always end of the season and everybody is tired, everybody has something. But I’m always kind of enjoying the time here. Probably that’s why it’s seeing on the results, as well.” Kvitova and Krunic have played twice in their careers while splitting the two matches. Kvitova won the inaugural meeting 6-4, 6-2 back in 2011 but Krunic got some revenge with a 6-4. 6-4 win the last time these two met at the US Open in 2014.
Prediction
I’m going with Petra Kvitova for the win against the smaller, less powerful 25-year-old Krunic. Kvitova would probably like to add to her title haul this year and the more points she gets now, the better off she’ll be for the WTA Tour Finals. Aleksandra Krunic has had a fine year in setting a new career high with her singles ranking (39t), but Petra Kvitova is the stronger, more experienced player in this match. Tennis Betting Pick: Petra Kvitova 6-3, 6-4

Tuesday, September 25

  • Simona Halep -400
  • Dominika Cibulkova +300
World No. 1 Simona Halep is a blistering 46-9 on the year with three titles including her first grand slam title at this year’s French Open. Dominika Cibulkova is a modest 22-17 on the year with no titles. These two WTA Tour veterans have met six times in their careers and Dominika Cibulkova owns a surprising 4-2 edge while winning thee of the last four meetings overall, including their last matchup at the 2016 WTA Championships. Simona Halep flamed out at the US Open while Dominika Cibulkova managed to reach the round of 16. Cibulkova is 2-1 since then while this event represents Halep’s first competitive play since New York. I’m feeling like Dominika Cibulkova is offering some excellent value in this match as a value-packed +300 underdog and you should too. I’m going with Cibulkova for the upset – and not just because she’s super hot! Tennis Betting Pick: Dominika Cibulkova 6-4, 5-7, 6-4
