Top Tennis Betting Picks of the Week – July 2 Edition

Written by on July 2, 2018

Break out the strawberries and cream and pray that the rain Gods are in a good mood, as the Tennis Betting action at 2018 Wimbledon gets underway starting this week. The tournament has already been going for a few days, but those matches were all qualifiers. Monday is when the big guns enter the draw, and by the time we reach the end of the opening week, we will have completed the opening 3 rounds of both the men’s and women’s tournaments. We will get into the later rounds next week, but for now, let’s talk about who we should be following in the opening stages of the tournament on both sides considering the latest Tennis Odds to win it all.

Top Tennis Betting Picks of the Week – July 2nd Edition

Wimbledon Men’s Tournament

ATP Top 10

  • 1-Rafael Nadal
  • 2-Roger Federer
  • 3-Alexander Zverev
  • 4-Juan Martin del Potro
  • 5-Marin Cilic
  • 6-Grigor Dimitrov
  • 7-Dominic Thiem
  • 8-Kevin Anderson
  • 9-David Goffin
  • 10-John Isner
The seemingly ageless Roger Federer is in as the defending champion and has already booked passage into Round 2 with a straight-sets win over Dusan Lajovic. It would be an absolute shocker if he were not still in the picture in Week 2, so get your money on him in the next two rounds. Federer is in the top half of the bracket, where Marin Cilic is sure to be his biggest threat. Cilic is also onto the second round after an easy win in his tournament opener. One player to keep an eye on in this half of the draw is Grigor Dimitrov, who is in as the #6 seed. John Isner is also a good bet to go a little deeper, as he seems to enjoy playing this tournament. The bottom half of the men’s draw is where you will find #2 Rafael Nadal, another good bet to be alive in Week 2 at Wimbledon. The big danger to Nadal on this half of the bracket is Alexander Zverev. I think he is a legitimate threat to make a very deep run, so I would certainly be betting on him this week. I would also take a look at Dominic Thiem.

Wimbledon Women’s Tournament

WTA Top 10

  • 1-Simona Halep
  • 2-Caroline Wozniacki
  • 3-Garbiñe Muguruza
  • 4-Sloane Stephens
  • 5-Elina Svitolina
  • 6-Caroline Garcia
  • 7-Petra Kvitova
  • 8-Karolina Pliskova
  • 9-Venus Williams
  • 10-Angelique Kerber
Garbine Muguruza is the defending champion, yet she is not in as the top seed in the women’s draw. She is in at #3, appearing in the top half of the bracket, where she will need to get past Simona Halep, who is ranked #1 if she is to repeat as Wimbledon champion. Muguruza will almost certainly be playing next week, as will Halep, as these two look to be on a bit of a collision course at this tournament. Petra Kvitova is another player that I would look at in this half of the draw, as she has won Wimbledon twice already. Petra Kvitova is one of the Tennis Betting favorites to win 2018 Wimbledon. The bottom half of the draw looks to be wide open, especially now that #4 seed Sloan Stephens has crashed out in the opening round. Caroline Wozniacki is the obvious choice here as the #2 seed, but she is going to get some competition from the Williams sisters. Serena has the toughest road to go, as she is in as the #25 seed. You might just get her at decent odds this week, so maybe look at playing some money on her and her sister, as I like them both to still be around in the second week of play.
